"Blast" from the past: man has himself shot in the arm as performance art

This display of "performance art" comes from a man by the name of Chris Burden, in 1971. He stands still as his friend across from him raises a 22 rifle to shoot him in the arm. He draws the viewer's attention to the audio's limited dialog, which we guess is supposed to have some kind of importance. "Do you know where you're going to stand, Bruce?" and "Are you ready?" are some of the brilliant lines you can expect to hear.

We call this one: "I wish people liked me...maybe if I did something crazy I'd earn respect"

Unbelievable last minute half-court shot wins the game for high school basketball team

It's New Rochelle vs Mt. Vernon, playing in a New York Class AA Championship game. There's 2.9 seconds left in the game. The score is 58 to 60, New Rochelle trailing by 2 points. Prior to this moment, New Rochelle had actually been down 10 points so they were putting their all into a last-minute comeback. Watch the game-changing moment from the game below:

It's one thing to make a shot past the half-court line, it's another to do it in the final split-second of the game while under intense pressure. If you'll notice, right after the shot was made, the refs were initially not going to let it count. Mt Vernon actually started cheering as well, thinking the shot had been made after the clock ran out. And actually, that's what it looked like to us to. The clock did seem to run out right before he made that shot. The refs then had their little huddle to decide the game's fate. "yeah... I'm pretty sure if we don't count it there's going to be a full-blown riot breaking out in here so for everyone's safety lets say it was thrown in time".

Motive believed to be robbery in Craigslist killings

This whole story is really strange. So far 2 dead bodies have been found, and another man was shot but fortunately managed to escape. The 3 men all answered a posting on Craigslist, an opportunity to make some easy money living on a farm. There was no such farm, and the men were lead to property owned by a coal company that was often leased to hunters. As the men were told they would be moving to the farm to live, they brought all of their belongings with them. All a robbery scheme. But who could be so cold hearted as to kill random people just to take their stuff? And the perpetrators were preying on people who were down on their luck to begin with. How could anyone think it would be worth killing people just for a few boxes of their belongings and maybe a little cash? How long would that last someone, about a week? Then it's off to the next killing?

If evil does exist these people are it. And the story gets even stranger as we find out who the suspects are: 52 year old
"mentor" and church-goer Richard Beasley and 16 year old Brogan Rafferty, one of the kids Beasley was mentoring. ABC affiliate WEWS spoke to Richard Beasley's mother and she spoke highly of her son, adding that he would take Brogan fishing, play video games, and deliver food for the needy. Evidently they also spent time scheming up robbery murder plots.

People Liking People Presents: The Jonestown Shuffle

People Liking People produced "The Jonestown Shuffle" back in 2009 but soon after publishing the track we found ourselves having to pull the plug on the project after it was banned in several countries. After much debate over the past couple of months, we've decide to re-release it and say the hell with it to those want to silence free speech. We present to you, "The Jonestown Shuffle (if we can't live in peace then let's die in peace)". Crank this one up folks, it's got a good beat you can dance to.

Allstate Insurance's Dick Weasel Move

Do you have Allstate Insurance? If so, drop them and get someone more legitimate (I personally use Nationwide, been with them for years and have never had any problems), because they're a bunch of dicks who apparently will do everything they can to get out of their end of whatever deal they've committed themselves to.

The Story: Last Saturday Allstate sponsored a contest at a U.S. Hockey League game in Indianapolis in which a $50,000 prize would be won if the contestant could shoot a puck from 200 feet away into a goal that was only 6 inches wide, a feat that's next to impossible. Well one man, Richard Marsh, actually pulled it off and was a very happy winner that night. Unfortunately Allstate then stepped in and rained on his parade:

Asked what he'd do with the cash if he made the seemingly impossible shot - knocking a 3-inch puck 175ft into a hole just over 3-inch wide - he said he'd give it to the St. Vincent Heart Center

And then he stepped up, took the shot and remarkably got it in - much to the shock of watching fans, officials… and the insurance firm responsible for the payout.

They have now said the charity will not get the money because Marsh had his foot over the line when he made the shot

Witnesses of the shot say he shot the puck right where it was placed. He didn't move it forward in an attempt to cheat. He walked right to where he was lead, so he actually never had a chance to start where they claim he should have: it was rigged from the very beginning.

Now the kicker to all of this is that Allstate is now trying to say that they aren't responsible at all for him not getting the money, because it's some unknown 3rd party insurance company that is in charge of the payout and made the decision to disqualify him, not Allstate. And we say that's complete bullshit. Allstate is the one using the contest to promote themselves, they put their name behind it. So it looks like they made an agreement with a behind-the-scenes unknown insurance company so in the event that they ever had to disqualify someone, they could blame it on some anonymous company and Allstate's reputation wouldn't be hurt because of it.

Gee I wonder how many times this happens with their customers that pay them for coverage. "Oops, sorry your claim is invalid and can't be covered. Oh, don't blame us, it's some anonymous 3rd party company we work with sometimes, but believe us we're doing everything we can for you".

Update, here's the video of the amazing shot:
