The psychology of the fade out at the end of a song

A "fade out" in music is when when volume of the song decreases gradually until the listener hears nothing at all, and is a common way songs are ended. There's a lot of hate for the fade out, as many people think it's a lazy way to end the song. Critics will say "I guess they couldn't come up with a good ending so they just turned the volume down".

Perhaps in many cases it is the result of laziness but often times it works well to create a feeling that the song is continuing on forever. But why would gradually turning down the volume create a vibe that something is continuing on forever?

One thing I've noticed is that the songs seem to sound their best during the fade out. Technically it probably doesn't really sound any better at all, but it's the point where you're like "goddamn this song is awesome, I wish it would keep going and going, I don't want it to stop". It's the point where you really start to appreciate the song and realize how good the vibe is. You've already heard the chorus several times by now at this point, but you took it for granted. Now you're realizing that this isn't going to last forever, and you're trying to hold onto it for as long as you can and cherish the moment.

You've heard the phrase "You don't know what you've got until it's gone", which can apply to many things in life like relationships and your health. When you're in the moment you don't quite realize just how good you have it, it's not until it's over or gone that you really appreciate it. Well, the fade out gives us the unique opportunity to have each foot on a different side and see both perspectives at the same time. On the one hand we still hear the song and are still in the vibe, but the other side of us sees it slipping a way and is in the perception of the song being over. We're able to experience both being in the moment and seeing the moment lost at the same time - which enables us to appreciate the song in the way we appreciate things in life after they're gone - only this time we have the benefit of getting to do that while we're still in the moment, if only for a brief amount of time.

You may remember back in November this video that went viral for a few days:

Basically the mother, Mary Napoli, had thrown flour all over the house and then made it look like her kids had "gotten into the bag of flour and made a mess". But almost immediately speculation began that the whole thing was set up - the flour was spread just a little too evenly around the living room in places where small children would not be able to reach, and a half-second glimpse of the mother showed she was actually covered in flour herself.

We wrote a little entry about it and poked fun at the whole hoax, comparing it to the balloon boy incident. We also tried to be thorough in the information that we presented, and included Mary and her husband Vince Napoli's contact information. Evidently displaying publicly accessible phone numbers on the internet is a major crime, and People Liking People now faces being fired from the internet. We've been contacted by Vince Napoli himself who is threatening to do just that and also get his lawyers involved. See the comments below he left on our site:

Ok Vince, you have your lawyer look at it. He'll call you a fucking dumbass for wasting his time. You might as well file a lawsuit against Spokeo.com while you're at it too. OMG, an entire website dedicated to contact information? Somebody call 911!

But really, in a way we feel bad for the Napoli's. They wanted a little fame just like we all do, but instead of actually accomplishing something worthwhile they....threw flour in their living room. Come on guys, you'll have to do a little better than that.

Update: Mary Napoli is at it again. A friend of People Liking People has brought it to our attention that the mother was kicked out of the Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan last week for get this: a "breast-feeding flash mob."

The group was led by Mary Napoli, who was confronted by a security officer when she sat down to nurse her 1-year-old son, Patch.com reported.

It always seems like the people who don't have the capacity to feel shame are the ones that need it the most. What an embarrassment this has to be for husband Vince Napoli, who's just trying to quietly hold down his job at WADL TV. We're definitely starting to see a pattern here with attention whoring activities involving their kids. It's one thing to want to stand for a cause (by the way, breastfeeding is allowed in the mall, just not protests or demonstrations) or try to become a celebrity on Youtube, but when you're shaping young lives in that environment it ends up hurting us all in the long run. We can only hope that they end up seeking the help they so desperately need.

Michele Bachmann's campaign chairman quits and switches to Ron Paul

Well this is an interesting turn of events for the Bachmann & Paul campaigns.

The US Republican candidate Michele Bachmann's Iowa campaign chairman has resigned and endorsed rival Ron Paul, six days before Iowa voters begin the nomination process to select the party's 2012 presidential nominee.
Kent Sorenson, an Iowa state senator who had served as Bachmann's state campaign chairman for nearly a year, said he had decided to switch his support to Paul because the campaign had reached "a turning point".

This is quite a blow to the Bachmann campaign, which is practically on life support at this stage of the game. In an effort to save face, Bachmann responded to the departure by alleging that Sorenson sold himself out and left to go to the Paul campaign after they offered him money:

“Kent Sorenson personally told me he was offered a large sum of money to go to work for the Paul campaign,” Bachmann said in a hastily arranged news conference outside a Pizza Ranch in Boone, where she held her 11th campaign event of the day.

It turns out though that that might actually be a complete lie, as Michele Bachmann's Iowa political director Wes Enos later issued a statement completely contradicting the Minnesota congresswoman:

“I won’t say much about the situation or the conflicting statements beyond this; I can say unequivocally that Kent Sorenson’s decision was, in no way financially motivated.

While I personally disagree with Kent’s decision, and plan to stay with Michele Bachmann because I truly believe in her, I cannot, in good conscious watch a good man like Kent Sorenson be attacked as a ‘sell-out’ ….That is simply not the case, and it was not the basis of his decision,” said Mr. Enos.

So Michele Bachmann comes right out and says "he's just doing it for the money" and within hours her political director says it's completely untrue. Not off to a good start considering her chairman just resigned on the same day. And all of this just 6 days before the Iowa Caucus.

Ocean Marketing's Paul Christoforo: Douchebag of the year

Everyone's doing their year-in-review and the best & worst of 2011 reviews so this couldn't have come at a better time. We're not going to waste any time or energy trying to go back and analyze all the idiots over the past year, we don't even have to do that - because we have the perfect candidate by which all other douchebags pale in comparison. Meet Paul Christoforo, "President" of his soon-to-be-defunct marketing company Ocean Marketing.

Paul Christoforo, through Ocean Marketing, was working as an outsourced representative for N-Control's Avenger controller attachment when he received an e-mail from a customer wondering where his order was.

Customer "Dave" had ordered the PS3 controller attachments on November 3rd and was initially told they would be arriving to him by early December. Well, December rolled by and after a couple of weeks passing with no order yet, Dave decided to contact customer service on Dec. 16 to see what was up. Dave was very polite and even wished Ocean Marketing happy holidays:

I ordered 2 of the upcoming PS3 controllers (invoice xxxxxxxxx—Nov 3, 2011). Any chance of getting an update of when these items will ship? I’m not really happy about being forced to pay upfront then have the advertised date of “Early December” be completely missed without any sort of update on availability. I really need one of them for a X-mas present as well. Anyways, looking forward to finally using one of these bad boys. Thanks and happy holidays.

With such a nice initial communication, how could anything go wrong? This is the company's chance to go out of their way to show empathy for the customer and apologize for the delay, and do everything they can to make sure the product is sent out as soon as possible. What actually ended up happening though is a completely different story. Paul Christoforo turned the situation into one of the biggest customer service nightmares we've ever seen.

When asked about the estimated time of arrival for the attachments, he responded "Dec 17", the next day. A few days later he writes "They still haven’t shipped yet on the way here from china".

Well that sucks, but hey, that happens sometimes right? Product releases get delayed, and it's just the nature of buying things online. Well Christoforo was just getting started. Here are some of the more interesting responses from representative Paul Christoforo to customer Dave:

"im sure you don’t complain to activision or epic games so put on your big boy hat and wait it out like everyone else."

"Feel free to cancel we need the units were back ordered 11,000 units so your 2 will be gone fast. Maybe I’ll put them on eBay for 150.00 myself."

And then it gets much worse...

"Son Im 38 I wwebsite as on the internet when you were a sperm in your daddys balls and before it was the internet, thanks for the welcome to message wurd up."

"You just got told bitch … welcome to the real internet"

"We do value our customers but sometimes we get children like you we just have to put you in the corner with your im stupid hat on."

And if simply shitting all over a customer wasn't enough, Paul Christoforo then digs himself a bigger hole by pissing off industry insider Mike Krahulik of Penny Arcade and gaming convention Pax, after customer Dave forwarded the exchange to him and other gaming sites. The exchange then continues between Christoforo and Krahulik, the most amusing part of which is Christoforo's "Do you know who I am??" attitude when he's quite the nobody himself, especially in relation to Mike Krahulik.

"Were in 6 countries and you’re not going to take my money for a booth that’s a crock I can guarantee I’ll get a booth if I want one money buys a lot and connections go even further. He’s a native Bostonian from Little Italy . Who are you again"

"If you let some little kid influence you over a pre order then we don’t want to be a your show ,Ill be on the floor anyway so come find me , I’m born and raised in Boston I know the people who run the city inside and out watch the way you talk to people you never know who they know it’s a small industry and everyone knows everyone."

Paul Christoforo then seemed to have finally realized he fucked up big time, but it was much too late.

Mike I’m not trying to fight with you I’m really not , you should give me the benefit of the doubt before judging over one person’s bitching . Did I feed into his emails a little bit too much yeah ok . But it’s one person dude for real. No disrespect intended for you , My name is good in this industry and I know a lot of people. I’ll be at CES are you going ?

Awww poor guy, it was just a misunderstanding. Shame on us for siding with the dirty customer and not good guy Paul Christoforo. And plus, he knows a lot of people. ooooo we're impressed, and Mike Krahulik definitely was too. His response: "Please remove me from this mailing list". Ouch!

This all went down a few days ago, and ever since then we've been witnessing a public meltdown eerily similar to that of Charlie Sheen's, where Paul Christoforo has taken to his twitter account to defend himself but in doing so only reveals what a nutbar and douche nozzle he is. Oh and in case you were wondering, Christoforo and his Ocean Marketing group has been fired from the position of representing the Avenger controller product. N-Control has issued a statement:

"We apologize for our poor representation from Ocean Marketing," David Kotkin, the owner and inventor of Avenger Controller told Kotaku. "We wanted to give Paul a chance. He was rough around the edges, but he had drive and enthusiasm. However his behavior was unprovoked, unnecessary, and unforgivable. We are no longer represented by Ocean Marketing."

Let this be a lesson to companies out there: be very careful before you let some outsourced company (or in this case, probably just 1 guy) take control of the one thing that matters most to your company: the relationship with your customers. Really, you shouldn't be outsourcing that at all. You need people who actually work for the company, because there's a much higher chance they'll actually give a shit than just some fly by night Joe Schmoe like Christoforo, where the only thing he cares about is himself.

Dirty ass hoe punches 70 year old Walmart greeter

Meet Jacquetta Simmons, a 26 year old dirty skank from Batavia, NY.

Jacquetta Simmons was on her way out the door after shopping at Walmart on Christmas Eve when 70 year old Walmart greeter Grace Suozzi asked to check her receipt, which is commonly done to ensure accuracy at the register and cut down on shoplifting. Instead of simply showing the greeter the receipt like any normal person would do, skank hoe Jacquetta Simmons proceeded to assault the elderly woman and knock her on the ground.

Patterson said Simmons is accused of punching and knocking down Suozzi at 11:23 a.m. after the employee asked Simmons to see receipts for items the customer was carrying in store bags. After hitting Suozzi, Simmons ran out of the store, but employees and customers quickly surrounded her until police arrived.

What could have been quickly over and done with has now turned into a mess for Ms. Simmons, who now faces 2 second-degree assault charges and is being held on a $20,000 bond.

Where does trash like this keep coming from? Is it really that hard for some people to think their actions through and know the consequences that are obvious to the rest of us? What a dumbass.

Florida middle school teacher arrested for throwing food at McDonalds employees

Meet Simone Paolercio. She's a 6th grade teacher at Lakeland Highlands Middle School in Lakeland, FL. She's also one of the most hideous looking human beings we've ever seen (we're using the word human quite broadly here). What the fuck happened to her face, is that what happens when you eat $20 worth of McDonalds every day? Jesus Christ lay off the tater tots woman.

Paolercio was arrested on Saturday after pelting McDonalds employees with food she had just ordered during a temper tantrum you'd expect more from a 3 year old.

Update on the Kimberly Crain panty party story: we now know who "Uncle G" is

We wrote about this story back on December 2 where Kimberly Crain, 3rd grade teacher and wife of powerlifting champion Rickey Dale Crain, was arrested after forcing 5 of her female 3rd grade students to dress in lingerie during what was supposed to be a Christmas decorating party at her house. There were some odd details in the story that made it seems as if she wasn't alone in the act and may have been working at the request of someone the kids knew as "Uncle G". Students in her class reported that Kimberly Crain would often have the students webcam chat over Skype in class to an "Uncle G" and it was said that she would often take pictures of the students as well, posing on tables. During the Christmas decorating episode, the teacher videotaped the girls in their underwear while having them do a "cheer dance".

Shawnee OK's news-star.com reports today that both Kimberly Crain and Uncle G - who we now know is Gary Joseph Doby of Bloomsburg, Pa, have been charged with 23 felony counts (23 to Crain and 9 counts to Doby).

As Crain was making a court appearance in Shawnee Thursday morning, a co-defendant, identified as Gary Joseph Doby, 65, of Bloomsburg, Pa. was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police. Bloomsburg is a town of around 14,800 people.
Doby reportedly is a professor who previously taught in the 1980s at Oklahoma Baptist University.

There's definitely more to this story than just the Christmas party incident, we will be updating as more information surfaces.

Update: Oklahoma City's KWTV has more: there were reportedly hidden cameras within the classroom, including an area covered by a curtain where the students were told to undress. Also, Crain initially met Gary Doby while she was a student at Oklahoma Baptist University and Doby was a professor.

You gotta wonder if he wasn't having any other teachers doing this. This isn't some random pervert that met Kimberly Crain online, this is someone who teaches teachers before they become teachers and probably knows and stays in touch with hundreds of current teachers. Hopefully the police are looking through his computer as we speak.

Mr. Lunsford was caught on video peeking into windows and masturbating, and shitting and pissing in the parking lot at Parkside Inn, a motel in Monroe, Ohio. Gross!

According to a police report, Lunsford was stopped Nov. 30 after patrons at Parkside Inn on Hamilton-Middletown Road reported seeing a man in a white hooded sweatshirt, naked from the waist down, urinating and defecating in the parking lot.

Justin Lunsford immediately resigned after being charged with voyeurism and public indecency.

What an embarrassment to himself, the police force, and the community. But one really has to wonder, how was this goofball ever hired on as an officer to begin with? You can just take one look at Justin and know something isn't right with the guy. We're not sure if it's the retard eyes or the stupid facial hair thing he has going on but someone is definitely not playing with a full deck here. I wouldn't trust him to make my fries at McDonalds (Lunsford's sanitary problems aside) let alone have him out there with a badge and a gun.

One of the more amusing bits about this story is Lunsford's friend Anita Watson-short from The Connor Group who has been going out of her way on the comment sections of all the articles about this story to defend her friend in an effort to make it seem like the guy's not a total mental case. That's one of the great things about the internet today and most sites' integration with Facebook: whenever something like this happens the friends and family come out of the woodwork to defend them from the rest of us who "just don't understand".

You want to associate yourself with a guy who masturbates while peering into the windows of a hotel and then proceeds to squeeze out a turd in a parking lot? Have at it Hoss, but if that's the type of person you call a good guy you may want to re-evaluate your standards. One day he might just pull down his pants and poop on you too.

KEYC anchor slurs her way through the news

Mankato Minnesota's KEYC started off the news segment as usual but something seemed a bit off with anchor Annie Stensrud. See if you notice anything odd:

We kinda feel bad for the woman. We checked out some of her previous broadcasts and she's actually a really good anchor & reporter. Was she a little intoxicated during the latest news report? Probably. Does that make her a bad person? No. There may be more to the story here and we shouldn't be so quick to judge, and at this time her employer seems to be sticking by her side. Let's hope she's able to work through this and get her shit together.

Donald Trump's debate: will it be cancelled?

Media-whore blowhard Donald Trump was scheduled to host the Republican debate co-sponsored by Newsmax on Dec. 27th. Announced with much excitement during a joint conference with Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich, it was supposed to be a must-see event. Now the pieces are crumbling and it looks like it may not go down at all. In the beginning Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman put out a statement saying they would not be attending the debate. At first it seemed like a bad move for those candidates - they're polling towards the bottom and really can't afford to not be seen. But other candidates have followed suit and now they're down to only 2 candidates that have confirmed they'll attend: Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.

Are Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum enough to make it a worthwhile debate? Or will they just can the whole thing altogether?

The whole thing has been a disaster from the start. Republicans need to get serious and they need to quit being so goddamn stupid by following celebrity whores like Donald Trump and Sarah Palin. If you think those people are good leaders for the Republican party you need to wake the fuck up. They have no interest in serving to help this nation, they're self promoters who hop on bandwagons to feed their careers.

I'll be honest, deep down I wanted to see this. It was certainly going to be a train wreck that would be hard not to watch. But I also know nothing truly good will come out of it. It's cheap entertainment at a time where we need serious solutions, not sideshow distractions.

Hopefully this whole event will get canned and Donald Trump and the Republican party can both realize that neither of them are a good fit for the other. Shame on all those out there who think he has a serious role to play in politics, you've definitely been punked.

School resource counselor who alerted kids about the "sexting epidemic" caught sexting 14 year old middle school student

Meet former Charlotte County Deputy Gordon Eldridge, who was a school resource counselor at L.A. Ainger Middle School in Rotonda West, Florida. As a school resource counselor, Gordon Eldridge was in charge of looking after the well being of the students. He had posted on his website tips for parents and students and also posted an alert to be aware of the growing epidemic of "sexting", where teens send sexually explicit text and pictures to each other.

Evidently Gordon Eldridge knew quite a lot about this practice of "sexting" himself, as he's now found himself in hot water over a text he sent to a 14 year old middle school student. The text he sent?

"Start stripping and dance on the tables . . . and send pics!"

Niiiice.

And apparently this isn't the first time his inappropriate behavior caught the attention of his superiors. Prior to the text being sent, the same 14 year old girl had reported to a different school resource counselor that Gordon Eldridge made her feel uncomfortable by putting his hand over her mouth. He was given a warning by his supervisor to avoid contact with the girl but it didn't end there. In the days following he picked her up for dinner and drove her to the high school football game. Allegedly there are even more inappropriate texts from Eldridge to the girl.

And if that weren't bad enough, and it is quite bad enough already, Eldridge took to the comments section in the local news article about this story to defend himself. In doing so, he not only practically admits to doing everything that's been alleged, but he tries to put all the blame on the 14 year old middle school student. Bad move.

I did sent ONE and only ONE inappropriate TEXT.
to the girl. It was in response to a text she.
sent me that she was bored. I sent a stupid.
quick response as a joke. It was in poor taste.
using adult humor and I immediately sent her an apology. She Accepted.

She later sent another text asking about another SRO.
because she missed speaking with her.

There was no apparent discomfort with texting me.

Four days later she went to the SRO at the high school.
stating she was uncomfortable with the text she had.
received from me. She tried to recant after she learned.
that the SRO supervisor was going to be contacted. She
did not want to get anyone in trouble.

I also learned that she loves to be the center of attention.
this was another attempt to be the center of attention.

She was interviewed by Major Crimes Detectives They found.
NO CRIME was committed. This was verified by the State.

Cheerleader Mom gets a little too into it

While the Archbishop Hannan High School team performed, mother of cheerleader Carey O'Rourke rocked the stands and shouted at the top of her lungs. Members of the crowd were struggling not to laugh, while mom was in her own little world of excitement.

Question: Is this type of enthusiasm even possible while sober?

College football cornerback forgets to kneel after catching ball in the endzone

During the college football game between the Wofford Terriers and the Northern Iowa Panthers last Saturday, Wofford kick returner Stephon Shelton made a mistake that cost him the game.

After catching the ball during a kickoff return in the endzone, cornerback Shelton forgot to kneel down to end the play. It seemed to take a second for the Panthers to realized what happened but after the ball was bumped loose from Shelton's grasp it was fallen on and recovered by Northern Iowa's Phil Wright, #31. Instant touchdown for the Panthers.

One point of note in this play is right after Northern Iowa's Zach Cutkomp knocked the ball out of Shelton's hands. Shelton appears to act like Northern Iowa had just committed a foul, he throws his hands up in front of the ref as if to say "did you see that man?" At that moment Shelton hadn't realized the mistake he made and that there was a live ball on the ground behind him.

That's gotta be tough to make such a stupid mistake and cost your teammates the whole game. It happens to all of us though at various points in our lives. You can bet he won't be making that mistake anymore.

Victory in Mcdonalds assault charge case

Well this is great news. You may remember this video from a while back where McDonalds employee Rayon McIntosh beat two female customers with a metal pole after they jumped over the counter to attack him.

At first glance you might say the McDonalds employee was definitely in the wrong here. It looks like he just snapped and went into a rage beating the two women. And the fact that McIntosh recently got out of jail after a 10 year prison term for manslaughter didn't help his case either. But we support McIntosh 100% here.

From the video you can clearly see the two women are the aggressors, and they even told him they were going to cut him "the fuck up". What were they planning on doing when they went behind the counter? That action right there crossed a clear line and put Mr. McIntosh in a difficult position.

It's bad enough working fast food when you have to deal with asshole customers but when they start jumping over the counter to kick your ass that takes it to a whole different level. But McIntosh rose to the occasion and put both of these loud mouthed bitches in their place. Did he swing a couple extra times after it was clear they were no longer a threat? Probably. Do we really give a shit? No. When you're faced with multiple aggressors that are coming at you, you're adrenaline is going to be pumping and you're not going to be thinking straight. Your body goes into fight or flight mode, and with McIntosh being cornered behind the counter his only option was to fight.

By the way, this whole thing started when Rayon McIntosh checked their $50 to make sure it was legit after Denise Darbeau and Rachel Edward went to pay for their food. That's common practice with bills $20 and above, who would have a hissy fit over that? And it turns out that there's good reason to be suspicious of these women. Just a year earlier Denise Darbeau was caught stealing from retailer H&M by taking money from the cash register. Rachel Edwards also has quite a record, including misdemeanor harassment and aggravated harassment charges.

The good news: A grand jury has just made a decision not to indict Rayon McIntosh. From CNN.com:

A fast-food worker whose run-in with two unruly customers was captured on cell phone video last month will not be indicted on assault charges, prosecutors said Saturday.
A grand jury voted against indicting Rayon McIntosh, who was seen allegedly swinging a metal object against two patrons at a McDonald's restaurant in Manhattan's Greenwich Village.

Score one for the good guys.

McIntosh now says he's thinking about suing his former employer for not ensuring it was a safe environment. Evidently that particular McDonalds has had a long history of criminal activity by customers including fights and customers caring guns.

McDonalds franchise owner Carmen Paulino did have a positive comment on the outcome:

“First let me say that I, along with my employees, are happy for Rayon and that he was released and cleared of all charges."

If only management had been so supportive of McIntosh before. Back when this first happened they terminated his employment with the company.

Let's hope this is the start of a new beginning in Rayon McIntosh's life.

Wife of powerlifting champion Rickey Dale Crain arrested and facing child pornography charges

This is a very strange story. 48 year old Kimberly Crain, wife of powerlifting champion Rickey Dale Crain (currently the owner of Crain's Muscle World) and third grade teacher at McLoud Elementary in McLoud Oklahoma has been arrested and is facing possible child pornography charges. The investigation began when one of her third grade students reported that the teacher had her and 5 other female students dress in Christmas-themed lingerie during what was supposedly a Christmas tree decorating party at Crain's home. Pictures and video were taken of the girls in their underwear while they performed a "cheer dance" at Crain's request. Police have seized the images and say they are "sexual in nature".

If that isn't weird enough, authorities say while in the classroom the teacher would often have the kids speak to a man on Skype who was referred to as "Uncle G". She was also known to take pictures of the kids from time to time posing on their desks. Police are trying to find out who this "Uncle G" character is and if he was the recipient of any pictures or videos.

"The things that these children were made to do can be explained in no other way than it was a sexual interest by Miss Crain."

It has also been reported that a $1 million bond was set for Mrs. Crain.

Is Kimberly Crain a lone pedophile? Or was there someone else, "Uncle G" perhaps, guiding her actions.

Update: A civil suit has been filed in Pottawatomie County, OK naming both both Kimberly and Rickey Dale Crain. It's unclear what the details of that complaint are at this time as the suit has been sealed by a judge. Are Rickey Dale Crain and Uncle G one in the same?

Boyfriend & girlfriend ghetto brawl in the street

Calling it a brawl may be a bit of a stretch, as most of the time was spent with girlfriend Tiffany sitting on her man, refusing to let him up.

It's hard to say exactly what sparked this confrontation but it appears that the boyfriend is the type of guy that likes to hit women and Tiffany finally got fed up with it and turned the tables on him. While we began watching this it wasn't quite clear at first who to root for, is this guy really a woman beater or is Tiffany just a big bitch? We were actually starting to side with the guy, empathizing with his frustration of not being able to get up (actually we were torn between that and wanting to see the cops show up so he could get busted for drugs). He then began begging and pleading, promising not to hit her.

That empathizing came to an abrupt stop at the end when Tiffany let him up, and he preceded to start punching her in the face. What an asshole.

Hitting women in the first place is never cool, but this guy has shit for brains trying to hit on Tiffany who is twice his size and can easily pin him to the ground.

This is just embarrassing. Ann Coulter was on Real Time With Bill Maher back in July for a debate on politics and foreign policy. She had a question for Bill Maher: "What do you think about Libya and Egypt...as long as I have you here."

Coulter: Are you in favor of us intervening in these two countries that didn't hit us on 9-11 solely for purposes of regime change?

Even though they were correcting Ann Coulter it somehow took a bit of the sting away. It would have been much more satisfying to hear a full minute of dead silence after Bill Maher asked "What did we do in Egypt?".....

Her main point presumably was going to be something along the lines of this: liberals were so anti-war during the Bush administration, but now here we have Obama getting us involved in all these wars and the anti-war liberals are silent. There actually is a decent point to be made there, but you Republicans need to know your shit before you start spouting off. I don't know what's happened in the past decade or so but it's become fashionable with conservatives to not really know what's going on, Sarah Palin being the prime example of this. Playing dumb is not cute, actually being dumb is definitely not cute - it's just downright embarrassing and sad, and it takes all credibility from what ever argument you were trying to make - even if somewhere in there was a valid point.

Read up on what's going on, even if it bores the hell out of you. You have got to do your homework if you're trying to win the hearts and minds of the people. Occupy Wall Street protesters turn their attention to Obama

Well it was only a matter of time. For the past couple months now the Occupy protesters have focused their efforts on big corporations who are raking in big profits and banks who received bailouts while the rest of us were left holding the bag. That was a decent starting point I suppose but at the end of the day, these companies can get only get so powerful without the help of the government. Companies are basically money making machines that operate on one principle only: to maximize profits for the shareholders.

From banks to retailers to car manufacturers, at the end of the day they all have the same goal. And how they conduct their business to achieve those goals is influenced a great deal by the legal and political environment. If rules are enforced and there is an even playing field with no company being favored by the government, companies live and die based on the quality of their products and their benefit to the consumers. If however we create an environment where the government is empowered to pick winners and losers, then companies are going to lobby the politicians to become the winners and ultimately end up with an unfair advantage.

The government essentially sets the stage for how business is conducted. If a company is behaving in a way that breaks the law or has a negative effect on society, that company should be called out and forced to face consequences. But if the government is not only allowing that to happen but is actually instrumental in it occurring, we need to take a look at them as well.

Kid on bike crashes, Mom gets pissed

This video has been kicking around on the internet in various forms for a few years now and even made it to truTV. But in most cases it's been butchered to hell, only showing you half of what went down or mixing in lame commentary.

This right here is what the internet was made for folks, it doesn't get any better than this. What was supposed to go down as just your typical neighborhood rap battle ended up with one guy laying on the ground knocked out. The guy who ended up getting knocked out seemed like the odd man out here, everyone else seemed to know each other. Halfway through he started acting strange - taking his shirt off and giving away his watch and hat. The camera guy, realizing that the guy wasn't "playing with a full deck", tried to be merciful and demanded that his watch be given back to him. It would have been over at this point but the other battler wanted to show him "how we do it in the Carter". Evidently down in the Carter, getting sucker punched and your ass handed to you is a neighborhood pastime.

Is it just us or is it a little odd that all these people who look to be in their 30s are hanging out in the neighborhood scrapping like little kids? Aren't they a little too old for this crap? I won't complain though because it gave us one of them most hilarious videos in internet history.

Norway mass-murderer Anders Behring Breivik likely to avoid jail time

The man accused of killing 77 people in a terrorist rampage that shook Norway last summer is insane and cannot be sentenced to prison or preventive detention, but can be confined to a mental hospital for the rest of his life, police said Tuesday.

After 36 hours of police and psychiatrists interviewing Anders Breivik, they've reached the conclusion that Breivik was psychotic during the killings, opening the window to the likely possibility of him avoiding jail time altogether and spending the rest of his life in a mental hospital.

If this turns out to be the case it'll be one of the greatest injustices we've ever seen. We've taken the time to read through Brievik's 1,500 page manifesto and it's clear that the man was extremely calculated and thorough in all of his actions. It was probably the most "sane" and well put together manifestos we've ever seen, making it all the more scary. Usually when someone goes out in a blaze and they vent their grievances in a manifesto, it's full of mindless ramblings that only make sense to someone with an IQ lower than 30. But Behring knew exactly what he was doing and knew it was wrong - he had no illusions about it.

But does it really matter either way? When someone kills 77 people in a calculated mass execution, does it really matter what a couple therapists think about his state of mind? How does that really change anything? I suppose a mental hospital could help treat a person of mental illness and get them back to a state closer to "normal". But with a guy like this, what's the point? Is there going to be a day where they say "after a couple years of treatment, Breivik now realizes what he did was wrong, he has corrected his thinking, and now he'll be a productive member of society"? If that happens, where's the justice? Well great, he now knows it's wrong to kill people. Yeah it's too bad about the 77 dead, but we're sure glad Breivik now knows right from wrong.

In cases like this, we need to look at what the goals of justice are. The #1 priority here should be to keep guys like this off the streets and away from society. Whether or not he is able to reach a point of mental clarity or deal with his inner demons, that's really his concern and should not be the burden of society. And sure if you want to treat his psychological issues, have at it, but aren't there plenty of more worthy people with mental illnesses that it would make sense to focus on instead? And I think we should also keep in mind the possibility of escape - do you really think a mental hospital is as secure as a prison? Either lock him up and throw away the key or put him out of his misery so everyone can move on with their lives without him.

Woman tries to burn off son's tattoo, gets arrested

Well, at least her heart was in the right place. Monica Cantu's 13 year old son had gotten a tattoo between his thumb and pointer finger. Understandably upset, she preceded to attempt to burn it off using a lighter. When that failed, she then turned to the stove where she cranked up the heat while forcing her son to put his hand on it.

Motorcyclist in Thailand pulls right out into traffic, gets ass handed to him

The car appears to drive off afterward, perhaps not wanting to have to confront a bunch of angry bikers? Idiots staple their tongues to board in an attempt to fit in

Wow this is just sad. What looks to be either a fraternity or sports hazing event, two guys stick out their tongues as a third guy staples them to a board on the table. A fourth member bleeding from the arm is then tasked with removing the staples. You know, in these kids' minds they probably feel like they just made that transition from boy to man but in reality they just lost every ounce of dignity they had left. And while stunts like this are usually intended to prove one's toughness, they often come off feeling a little....gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But in many of these hazing incidents we can't help but notice the homoerotic undertones, like this story where am Alpha Delta Omega fraternity member at Hartwick College was spanked with a wooden paddle by his peers. I don't know about you all, but when we were in college spanking another guy with a wooden paddle or messing around with boys' tongues was the last thing on our mind.

Motive believed to be robbery in Craigslist killings

This whole story is really strange. So far 2 dead bodies have been found, and another man was shot but fortunately managed to escape. The 3 men all answered a posting on Craigslist, an opportunity to make some easy money living on a farm. There was no such farm, and the men were lead to property owned by a coal company that was often leased to hunters. As the men were told they would be moving to the farm to live, they brought all of their belongings with them. All a robbery scheme. But who could be so cold hearted as to kill random people just to take their stuff? And the perpetrators were preying on people who were down on their luck to begin with. How could anyone think it would be worth killing people just for a few boxes of their belongings and maybe a little cash? How long would that last someone, about a week? Then it's off to the next killing?

If evil does exist these people are it. And the story gets even stranger as we find out who the suspects are: 52 year old "mentor" and church-goer Richard Beasley and 16 year old Brogan Rafferty, one of the kids Beasley was mentoring. ABC affiliate WEWS spoke to Richard Beasley's mother and she spoke highly of her son, adding that he would take Brogan fishing, play video games, and deliver food for the needy. Evidently they also spent time scheming up robbery murder plots.

Ontario dairy farmer fined $9,150 for selling raw milk

Evidently it's a big crime to sell raw milk, it's right up there will dealing crack and heroin. Meet Michael Schmidt: he's a dairy farmer and "raw milk crusader" from southern Ontario who was just hit with a $9,150 fine for distributing raw, unpasteurized milk.

Schmidt was acquitted in January 2010 of 19 charges under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, which makes it illegal to sell or distribute raw, unpasteurized milk in Canada.

The judge rejected Schmidt's argument that he is legally allowed to distribute raw milk to members of his so-called cow-share program, in which people "own" shares of his dairy herd.

So what's the big deal, really? Is raw milk really that dangerous? Are these raw milk people crazy?

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) raw milk can contain various bacteria, parasites, and viruses which can make you sick or even kill you. Milk can become contaminated in a variety of ways, everything from cows that have diseases to cow feces coming into contact with the milk. The CDC states that the only way to essentially sterilize the milk and minimize these risks is through pasteurization, and without that, you're opening yourself up to enormous health risks.

So how about the other side of the debate? We took a look at some pro-raw-milk sources to see what all the excitement was about, and why people like Mr. Schmidt are willing to break the law for such a cause.

Raw milk proponents argue that raw milk is chock full of nutritional ingredients and offers many health benefits for those who drink it. We read that in the not so distant past, raw milk from cows was actually used as a medicine to treat and in some cases cure chronic diseases. It contains enough nutrition, the proponents argue, that one could survive purely off the milk, as it contains all of the essential proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, enzymes that one would need, and even some good bacteria to help with the digestive system. Question: does pasteurized milk not contain any of these benefits?

This particular story here with the farmer getting fined comes from Ontario, but The U.S. also has its laws regarding the sale of raw milk. However, judging from the raw milk legal status map below from the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, it appears that many areas in the states are quite liberal about its distribution:

So who's to believe, the proponents or the CDC? The answer probably lies somewhere in the middle. Sure, raw milk without anything done to it may have a little more nutrients in it and some additional health benefits, but that's assuming that you're not also getting any bad bacteria or viruses along with it. I personally doubt the benefits of raw milk outweigh the possible risks associated with it, but as long as the buyer is aware that he is purchasing raw milk and that's the decision he chooses to make, I don't see why we should stop him. We let people buy cigarettes all day long knowing full well it leads to cancer. And there's definitely no health benefits to smoking. So what's the big deal if a small group of people (the CDC says it makes up roughly 1% of total milk consumption) think there's health benefits to raw milk and prefer it over the pasteurized? People should have the freedom to make their own purchasing and living decisions, even if they are judged to be bad decisions by the rest of us.

The Republican Presidential Campaigns: Why is Jon Huntsman not getting more attention?

We here at People Liking People have been keeping an eye on the Republican primary presidential campaigns. It seems like every week there's a new front runner, and it almost feels like a game of musical chairs. Early on the focus was on Donald Trump, then it turned out the whole thing was a publicity stunt (shame on you all who actually fell for it). Mitt Romney has long been seen as being the most presidential and the one having the best chance at beating Obama. But to this day it seems a big share of the conservative base is having trouble rallying behind him. His level of support has been the most consistent of all the candidates though, for better or worse. Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain have both had their moments where it looked like they were the new front runner, and now Newt Gingrich is in that spotlight. And of course there is Ron Paul, who has a very strong support base but will have a hard time crossing into mainstream status. Oh and Rick Santorum...yawn. Look for him to be out of the race soon, along with Bachmann.

There is one candidate whose experience is very solid and he has carried himself quite well in the debates, but for some reason or another has not gained the attention and support of the media or the conservative base, which is becoming puzzling for us because he seems like one of the more solid candidates. That candidate is Jon Huntsman. He gets much less speaking time during the debates than most of the other candidates and you rarely hear his named tossed around seriously as having a real chance. But why is this? Let's look at Jon Huntsman's experience:

- Executive of the Huntsman Corporation (a chemical company)
- United States Trade Representative
- Ambassador to China
- Governor of Utah

Huntsman is arguably the most moderate of all the candidates, which is probably why there's not much excitement behind him within the conservative base. He's somewhat like Romney, except with Huntsman we get the feeling he stands by his positions, whereas with Romney he has a history of flipflopping on almost every issue (abortion and universal healthcare, for example).

We're making a prediction here: Newt Gingrich will be in the lead for the next few weeks and it'll seem like he'll end up being the guy. But that will also come with increased scrutiny and people will begin to reconsider if he's really the one they want as the Republican nominee. When the excitement over Gingrich begins to fade and people look back over the list of candidates to make sure there wasn't anyone better that was overlooked, they'll discover Huntsman - and it'll be just in time for the primary elections.

A&M University fires band director after hazing incident

A&M University in Florida announced today that they will be firing band director Dr. Julian White after drum major Robert Champion died during a hazing incident on Saturday.

Champion, 26, a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School, died following the Florida Classic football game in Orlando last Saturday.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said he suspects hazing is involved in Champion's death. In Florida, hazing is a third degree felony. Sheriff Demings said charges could be forthcoming.

This is a very sad story all around, but we can't help but wonder: how does a 26 year old man die in a college hazing incident? I mean isn't he a little old to be one of the guys getting hazed? At the very least shouldn't he be one of the guys doing the hazing?

Woman throws flour all over her furniture and blames it on her kids to make viral video

Wow, the length that some people will go to these days to "go viral" is getting more ridiculous by the day. So we have a woman who has thrown flour all over her living room, getting it on the couches, lampshades and picture frames. She then pretends to stumble upon her kids playing with an empty bag of flour and puts on her best acting job at being shocked and dismayed. Watch the video below:

Is what we've become people? All attention whores looking to be the next winner of the viral lottery? The woman, who goes by "mtmuzic" uploaded the video to youtube with the description:

Mommy was not feeling well and had to stay in the bathroom longer than usual during which my two boys, ages 1 and 3 took my new bag of flour out of the cupboard and destroyed my house. This is from ONE 5lb bag. Don't believe me? Hand a full bag to a 3 year old and see what happens.

Yeah sure lady, that must have been some major diarrhea shit you had going on there. So far the video has 2.3 million views so I suppose the woman can chalk this one up as a success, but isn't a bit weird for a mother to be using her kids like this?

She has since disabled the comments on the video (big surprise) but we were able to catch one left by "brunozi" who hit the nail right on the head:

"You should go see a psychiatrist, lady. You poured flour all over your own house just to make a YouTube video? Seriously, go see a doctor. I feel sorry for your kids having such a distraught mom."

Update 2: Thompson is her maiden name, she's now married to WADL Detroit TV employee Vince Napoli (phone # 440-835-0991) and assumes the name Mary Napoli. They now live in St. Claire Shores, Michigan. The family appeared on the Today show with Matt Lauer where she answered to accusations that it was a hoax just to get her 15 minutes of fame. This is looking to be very similar to the balloon boy hoax. Fortunately in this situation it hasn't wasted police resources, the only thing lost here is the Napoli's dignity.

Vodka maker pulls billboard ad after crybabies complain

Can't anyone take a joke anymore?

We've been following this "story" for the past couple days, it initially showed up on Gawker when a "concerned" reader contacted the site to inform them of the billboard shown below:

The "tipster" alerted Gawker of this billboard for Wodka Vodka located on Riverside Drive in Manhattan, which pokes fun at stereotypes using a Santa dog and a "Jewish" dog with the tag line "Christmas Quality, Hanukkah Pricing". The complainer also mentioned that she would be contacting various media outlets as well:

"Perhaps you are also aware of the anti-Semitic stereotype that Jewish people control the media. Following the lead of your billboard, I have put stock in this stereotype and have taken the liberty of cc'ing several media outlets and news writers on this email."

Well isn't that just special, you go girl.

We figured that would be the end of it, seeing as there's much more important things to be outraged about than a silly billboard ad. But this persistent crybaby's efforts have paid off, as the company today caved to pressure and has taken the billboard down. From Yahoo news:

A billboard for Wodka vodka in NYC has been taken down and destroyed after complaints that the advertisement's message is anti-Semitic.

Ron Meier, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League, called it "crude and offensive. To use the Jewish holiday in dealing with issues of money is clearly insensitive and inappropriate."

Well that's a shame. You can't make a joke these days without everyone getting their panties in a bunch. And what was the point of contacting the media about this billboard anyway, it's not like it was some big secret the folks at Wodka were trying to hide, they put it on a giant billboard facing a major street for chrissakes. And one of the most ironic things about the whole thing is that Brian Gordon, head of the marketing firm (MMG) behind the billboard, is himself Jewish.

Score one for the whiny crybaby douchebags. If there's any silver lining to this story it's that it did give Wodka a ton of publicity, and we're guessing that the people who thought the ad was no big deal far outweigh the folks who need to untwist their panties. We're not big drinkers here at People Liking People, but if we ever do need to pickup some Vodka we'll be sure to try out Wodka's selection.

One thing did slightly bother us about this ad though, I believe they have used the stereotype the wrong way. When it says Hanukkah pricing to mean "Jew pricing", if we are to follow the stereotype that would mean that the prices would be high, a ripoff - not low, like they probably meant to illustrate. But I suppose that's a minor point and it's just a joke not meant to be dissected. Either way, the billboard ad is now down and the crybaby brigade can now focus their efforts on the next big atrocity.

Police stopped a group of six people ages 16-18 near Tech Road and Broadbirch Drive. Each had items from the 7-Eleven but no receipts, police said.

Well at least they got some of them, too bad it was only six. But even for six they caught, do you really think they'll get any kind of serious punishment? Every single one of these people should be locked up in jail for a very long time. Petty theft like this is considered a minor crime and the most punishment thieves can usually expect to get is a slap on the wrist. But anyone who steals crosses a very clear line, both legally and morally. It's not like someone who goes a little over the speed limit, and it's not a simple lapse in judgment. These people have made a conscious decision to disrespect others by taking things that clearly do not belong to them - they're taking money from other peoples pockets. Stealing a candy bar and a soda may not do much harm in the big scheme of things but it's very indicative of the mindset of the person who crosses that moral and legal line. Folks like this need to be eliminated from society for a long time.

Cover Band Fail

This video is just great. We have what looks to be a cover band playing in a small club. They're about to start playing Bon Jovi's "You give love a bad name" song from '86 when all the sudden the guitarist slams his guitar down and storms off stage. The most amusing part of it is the complete dead silence in the club after the guitarist throws his guitar down. If anyone has any information on this video like what band this is, what city, and the back story behind this outburst please let us know!

We couldn't help but notice that the woman at the end there yelling "you fucking asshole!" sounds eerily similar to the "cheap shot motherfucker" woman in the Danzig gets owned video. Same lady?

Update: The band in this footage is Winters Mistress, this show was on Oct. 27 where they were opening up for Stephen Pearcy (Ratt) at the Reverb Club in Reading, PA.

Republicans supporting "Stop Online Piracy Act"

Hey Republicans, what happened to all the "less government" talk? If you really mean that, we're with you. But time and time again it seems that you pick and choose your ideology depending on the issue.

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) was introduced in the House of Representatives on October 26 by Texas Republican Lamar Smith. The bill's aim is to fight intellectual property infringement online but it puts a huge burden on domain owners and gives the government power to force Internet Service Providers to blacklist domain addresses.

For example, let's say there's a picture hosting website in Japan called japan-pic-host.com which allows users all over the world to post pictures to share with their family and friends. And let's say that 1 member of the site (out of millions) submits a picture of a diagram that is copyrighted by someone else. If this bill were to become law, the government would then be able to force Internet Services Providers like Time Warner, AT&T, & Comcast to prevent people from visiting the entire website altogether. If you tried to visit japan-pic-host.com to check out your friend's latest photos, you'd get an error message on your browser.

The same could easily happen to sites like Youtube. With the millions of user-submitted videos on there, the government could easily find an example of copyright infringement - all the justification it would need to shut the whole thing down.

The bill would allow the court to order Internet service providers, “payment network providers,” search engines, and advertising services to take “technically feasible and reasonable measures” to cut off these illegal foreign infringing sites in their respective fields. Internet service providers would be required to modify their DNS look-up servers to return an empty response for these sites, making them virtually inaccessible, while search engines would need to filter results linking to such sites.

The remaining provisions of Title I allow for voluntary actions to deny services to rogue sites and to sites selling prescription medication without requiring a prescription or where the drugs are adulterated or misbranded.

Are there bad things on the internet? Sure. Does copyright infringement take place online? Yes. But we must ask ourselves, is it worth regulating the internet and giving the government more power just to go after a couple copyright infringers? Don't we already have processes in place for copyright owners to go after those who infringe? Why do we need to hand over additional blanket controls to the government? The government should not ever be able to force an internet service provider to block an entire website. If the government has a legitimate beef with a copyright infringer then it needs to deal directly with that person.

Internet Service providers should not have to be put in a position to police their customers or deny access to particular websites. Isn't this what sets us apart from countries like China? We all seem to agree that it's a bad thing when the Chinese government cuts off access to certain websites. So why are we voluntarily headed down that road ourselves? A few cases of copyright infringement isn't enough justification to give the government that much power, just as the fear of terrorism isn't enough justification for us to give up our rights in order to feel safe. And in both instances it's the supposed "less government" Republicans leading the way.

Herman Cain is Done

Well it's official: Herman Cain is finished. He no longer has a chance to become president in this upcoming election. If by some miracle he ends up winning the Republican primary, there is no way he will be able to beat Obama. Either way he's toast. And it has nothing to do with the sexual harassment allegations. We gave Herman Cain the benefit of the doubt and still do. More details may come out later of course that indicate he did sexual harass those women, but at this point in time we simply don't have any evidence that he did. No, the reason Herman Cain is toast is this "performance" during an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Watch below:

This is just embarrassing, and it's too terrible to justify. There's no way to spin this one at all. How could anybody be so clueless as to what's going on in the world? Sure, when you run for President of the United States, you have to quickly learn a ton of information - everything from international politics to tax policy to more local issues that are going on in the towns that you visit while campaigning. But at this point in the campaign he should be up to date with what happened in Libya.

And let's say we give him a pass for not knowing too much about Libya or the Middle East. Let's look at how he handled it. A third grader could have done a better job answering the question. "Uhmm Libya...ok let's see....uhh....Obama...was.....for...the opposition..right? Ok...uh" He's asking the interviewer to help him answer the question, and that's pathetic. And you gotta love how he shuffles his water bottle back and fourth on the table like he's some kind of genius deep in thought. Nope, not fooling anybody. That may have worked during corporate board meetings but it definitely didn't help here.

Once he's at the understanding that Obama was for the uprising and the ousting of Gaddafi, he then begins to offer his criticism on the way Obama handled it:

"I don't agree with the way he handled it for the following reasons:

uhmmmm.....nope that's a different one. Uhm... let's see..I gotta go back and see..uhh...I got all this stuff twirling around in my head...uh...specifically what are you asking me what do I agree or not disagree with Obama on?"

That's just terrible man. Just admit that you don't know. People already know that you don't know much about what's going on in the middle east, we get it, it's not your specialty. But to try to pretend that you do and fail so miserably is just embarrassing. And to attempt to criticize Obama for the way he handled it when you don't even know the situation or how Obama handled it? How are you going to criticize something before you even know the details of what happened? For all Cain knows, Obama's strategy on Libya was genius.

For the record: we here at People Liking People would prefer not to get involved at all with Libya or any other of these uprisings and civil wars. Do we not have enough of our own issues to deal with? And that's the real answer Cain should have given. Why are we talking about Libya when we have so many problems of our own? Let's take care of our own first, Libyans will find a way to work things out on their own.

And that reveals another problem with Cain. He's afraid to give his real opinion on international politics. Now maybe he isn't the brightest guy in the world when it comes to the middle east, but he's gotta have some kind of views one way or the other. But instead of giving his honest view, he's sitting there trying to remember what the establishment Republican positions are. He doesn't want to say anything that's out of line with the status quo, because he knows if he gets called out on it and asked to back it up, he's in trouble. So he's trying to play it safe and give the standard answers. Israel? Support it 100%. Libya? whatever Obama did, that was wrong. He's afraid to take real unique positions. He may have a "bold" 999 plan but with everything else he's merely going along with the Republican talking points and is afraid to take a stand or real position on anything.

We wanted to see Cain do well, in the beginning he really seemed to shine above the other candidates. But the more his campaign continued the worse it got. In the beginning of his campaign when he was asked international questions, he would say things like "I do not know the best way to resolve that because I need to look over the facts". Back then we thought it was kind of a weak answer but at least it was honest and we understood. Now he's trying to fudge his way through answering those types of questions and it just doesn't work.

Jerry Sandusky admits to showering with boys, but says he never did anything sexual

Former coach Jerry Sandusky was interviewed by Bob Costas for NBC on Monday and these were his responses to the molestation allegations and charges:

"I enjoy being around children," Sandusky said. "I enjoy their enthusiasm. I just have a good time with them."

"I could say that I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their legs without intent of sexual contact."

When Costas pressed him, asking if he was willing to concede to any wrongdoing, Sandusky replied: "I shouldn't have showered with those kids."

Ok do you remember back when you were a kid and were suspected/caught doing something bad, and you knew you wouldn't get away with saying you didn't do anything at all, so you'd admit to doing a tiny part of it, in the hopes that you'd just get a quick scolding and it would all be forgotten in a few minutes? Like "What? I don't know what happened to Dad's birthday cake, I mean I ate a tiny piece of icing off the corner but that was it. Must have been someone else".

Yeah, that tactic doesn't quite work as well with molestation charges. "Me? Pedophile? no...I mean, sure, we horsed around a lot...naked..you know, showering, touching their legs...but nothing sexual no of course not".

High School Football Coach forced to step down after handing out "Hurt Feelings Report"

The head coach of Buffalo High School's (Wyoming) football team has been forced to step down after handing out a "Hurt Feelings Report" to the team before heading off to their first-round playoff game.

Isn't that even worse than having him as a football coach? I mean you kind of expect coaches to be assholes, it sort of goes with the territory. But for a guidance counselor position you're going to want a higher standard of professionalism.

Catholic Church's "Child Abuse Officer" jailed for child porn

Serious question: is there anyone in the leadership of the Catholic Church who is not a pedophile? As if the past incidents with the priests molesting kids wasn't enough, we now learn that Roman Catholic "Child Abuse Officer" Christopher Jarvis has been jailed for 1 year on pornography charges.

Christopher Jarvis, 49, was employed by the Diocese of Plymouth in Devon as a safeguarding co-ordinator in 2002.

But he was also compiling images of children, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

We're sure it was just for "research" and he just wanted to make sure he knew what he was dealing with.

It really makes you wonder though, what is it with church leadership and the high rate of pedophiles? The pedophile-to-normal-person ratio inside the church is probably like 100 times the national/world average. It's something that's made us curious for some time and it's sort of like the chicken and the egg puzzle: which came first, were these men normal but then became pedophiles after becoming priests? - or in this case, after becoming a "child abuse officer" in the church? Or were these people always pedophiles and went into the priesthood specifically to get access to children?

After much pondering, we believe we've come to an answer. Let's think about it for a moment, what type of person become a priest? The people who become priests are those who are the experts on the bible and their religion. They've spent their whole lives reading the bible and participating in church activities - it is their life. While everyone else is out having sex, drinking, playing sports, living life, having fun....these people are studying their bible. And what kind of person spends all their time growing up studying the bible? A person who is struggling with things in their life/mind and is looking for answers.

These guys obsessed over religion because they were struggling with their "demons". They knew something wasn't right and were trying to deal with it and solve their problem with religion. They learned everything they could and had the bible practically memorized...so when it came time to find a new priest, who better to hire for the job than the guy who's the expert?

The problem is, the demons that drove them to search for answer, the initial struggles, they are still there beneath the surface. The problem has not been solved. But here they are now in a position of power with everyone looking up to him like he's the guy that has it all figured out. It's very similar to the people with mental issues that go into psychiatry - they go in trying to fix themselves, and end up later hurting others.

School turns to advertising on report cards for revenue

With the economy being in the state that it's been for the past few years, people and businesses have had to get creative when it comes to making ends meet. Schools have also been experiencing financial setbacks as well, including the Jefferson County school district in Colorado which is currently facing $70 million in budget cuts. But the folks at Jefferson County have come up with a plan to make up for at least some of those cuts: advertisements on report cards.

Some parents in Jefferson County won’t only see their child’s grades on their report cards. They’ll also see advertising.

The ad will appear along the bottom of every elementary school report card for the next three years.

Is it wrong to mix capitalism and advertising with our public education system? Some seem to think this is crossing the line. To alleviate concerns, the school district has currently restricted the advertising to a nonprofit organization known as CollegeInvest. But what's to come in the future, will we be seeing Coke and Pepsi ads on report cards further down the line?

One thing that doesn't seem quite right is the discrepancy between the budget cuts the school is facing and the amount of money these ads are going to pull in, which is a puny $30,000 a year. $30,000 a year is less than the average teacher makes, so....great, these ads on the report cards won't even cover 1 teacher's salary and will barely scratch the surface of the $70 million they're facing in budget cuts. Is it really worth all the bitching and moaning? I say if you're going to do this, go all out. Let's get all kinds of advertising up and down the hallways of the school - advertisers can bid on specific spots, some areas going for more due to the amount of foot traffic. And it begs an interesting question, are advertisements harmful to kids? Are they really harmful to anyone? We live in a capitalistic society and as much as we look at advertising as something evil, many of the services we take for granted depend on it almost entirely. I say let's give it a shot, just as long as we don't have advertising reps swarming into schools the way we see the pharmaceutical reps in the doctors offices.

Update on pervert child beater Judge William Adams

Good news: a district judge has granted a temporary restraining order against the perverted teen-daughter-ass-whipping Judge William Adams. The daughter in the video that was released a few weeks back is now 23 and has since moved out but there is a current custody battle involving Judge William Adams and Hallie Adams' 10 year old daughter. The temporary restraining order comes after Hallie Adams's attorney filed a motion with an affidavit detailing a history of emotional and physical abuse along with substance abuse as well.

So not only is this judge a perverted child abuser but he evidently has a drug problem as well. We look forward to seeing if Judge Adams is forced to undergo drug testing and what the results will be if so. This monster should not be anywhere near a position of authority, whether in a court or as a parent. In addition to drug tests, we think it would be interesting to take a look at what he has on his hard drive on his computer. Perhaps there's a reason he was so "touchy" regarding his daughter's usage on it years ago.

Woman has face melted off during meth explosion, continues producing meth

If there were ever a good reason to not do drugs, or meth in particular at the very least, one need not look any further than Heather Raybon.

This is a picture of Heather Raybon back in 2003, who at this time was a very attractive young woman. A year later she was in a "drug den", most likely a meth manufacturing lab, when it blew up and permanently scarred her face.

This goes beyond most of the faces of meth picture comparisons we've seen and is very tragic. A woman's life completely ruined all because she got involved in what is arguably the worst drug possible. It gets even sadder though: Ms. Raybon has recently been busted for manufacturing meth again.

And that's often the downward spiral these addicts find themselves in: they use the drugs to escape at first, then the drugs ruin their lives even more, and then they're using the drugs to forget about how ruined their lives are....which was caused by the drugs in the first place.

When we see these faces of meth pictures we always wonder: how good must that high be to be able to look at yourself every day deteriorating and then continue doing it? To look in the mirror and see some hideous being that looks like it belongs in a horror movie, and say to yourself "eh it ain't that bad, everything's cool...let's get high today". That's gotta be some high...but no high is worth this.

The shocking revelations that former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky had been molesting young boys in a Penn State locker room has turned things upside down for Penn State this week and has ended the career of coach Joe Paterno. But while most were finding out about the coverup for the first time this week, one columnist, radio host Mark Madden, wrote about a possible Penn State sex scandal coverup 6 months ago and it has turned out to be very accurate.

Best-case scenario: Charges are never brought, and Sandusky walks away with his reputation permanently scarred. The rumors, the jokes, the sideways glances - they won't ever stop. Paterno and Penn State do the great escape.

Chickenpox Infected Lollipops

Mmmmm your mouth is watering already, isn't it? There's a new trend on the rise, either that or we're the victim of another media fabricated outrage story - which we do hope is the case because this is actually pretty ridiculous.

Local physicians are warning parents about a new mail order scheme of sharing lollipops, licked by children with chickenpox, as a way to create immunity against the disease instead of getting vaccinations.

The practice is reportedly being spread by Internet social media sites as an extension of the “pox party” concept, where parents deliberately expose their children to the virus.

Chickenpox, it wasn't really that bad was it? We got a bunch of itchy bumps all over our bodies for a few days and then it went away. And every kid got them, it wasn't a matter of if you were going to get chickenpox, but when. Well the good news is that for kids growing up today, there is a chickenpox vaccine which has been around since 1995. And most states require that kids get the vaccine before entering elementary school. Problem solved right? Well evidently there are some parents out there who are hesitant to have their kids vaccinated. And while it may not be the smartest thing to keep your kid from receiving a vaccination, we could understand those being hesitant. However, the purported reason that these people are weary of the vaccine: "many parents are afraid of the chickenpox vaccine because it uses a live virus."

So let me get this straight, you're worried about your child receiving the chickenpox vaccine because it uses the live virus, so you have your child lick a lollipop licked by someone with chickenpox... which presumably contains the live virus? I'm sorry but I'm not seeing much difference here, other than the increased risks associated with licking some sick kid's saliva.

According to Joanne LaSpina at PerkiomenValley, these chickenpox infected lollipops are going for $50 each and are being distributed through social media sites like Facebook. You know, I suddenly have a great idea to make a lot of money. How are these people going to know the lollipops were actually licked by a kid with chickenpox? I'm ordering a 20lb box of lollipops as we speak.

Herman Cain and Rick Perry both have their own "Oh shit" moment

The Republican primary campaign has been going on for a few months now but it's really starting to get entertaining lately and is making the 2008 campaign look like a snooze fest. Remember John McCain? Rudy Guiliani? God it's no wonder Obama won. Of course, it didn't help that the majority of the country was fed up after 8 years of Bush but that's another story. Anyways...one of the most entertaining parts about this whole process is watching these politicians squirm as they're asked questions on things they know nothing about - and they have to pretend to be very knowledgeable on the subject. Most of the time they can pull it off pretty well. One of the things that works in their favor is that half the population doesn't understand the issues so people barely notice when politicians are bullshitting their way through answers. For all Joe Sixpack knows, the politician is offering some genius proposal. But every now and then their knowledge is so lacking that they can't even pretend to bullshit their way through, which is what happened to Herman Cain a few days ago during a debate between Cain and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, watch below:

And then tonight during the debate on CNBC came what is probably the most embarrassing moment yet during the campaign: Rick Perry completely forgot what he was going to say mid-speech, and ends it by saying "oops". Ouch.

"I will tell you, it is three agencies of government when I get there that are gone: Commerce, Education, and — what's the third one there? Let's see..."

Notice how after saying "oops" he immediately looks over to his right, presumably at Mitt Romney.

Album Review: Grin by Coroner 1993 (4/5)

Coroner's Grin, released in 1993 is a very interesting metal album. It's definitely not one that you can pop in for the first time and immediately fall in love with it. At least that wasn't the case with me. Now, you will be able to tell instantly that there is a lot going on and it could be something very special, but it isn't readily apparent just what that is or if it's really worth giving it many more listens to find out.

As I was trying to get into this album, I noticed a couple things: it seems to have all the right elements - the riffs are good, drumming is just fine, the songs seem well put together and the guitar solos are very well crafted and technical. But for some reason I felt tired while listening to this album. I'd be pepped up and ready to go in the beginning but after a few songs I'd feel lethargic and ready to take a nap. Was it just me? Or is this album really a doozer?

After many listens I can say that this is one of those albums that has to grow on you. You have to give it time to set in to get it and enjoy it. But at the same time I do think there are a couple flaws, a few areas that if they would have done better would have taken it it from a 4/5 album to a 5/5 album. One of the main things that hurts this album in my opinion is the production. Now I'm not a producer and it's hard to say exactly what went wrong, but simply put the album sounds boring. It's lifeless. The bass isn't as high in the mix as they should be, and it seems like they were going for a more refined and clean sound - which took away some of the energy it might otherwise have had. It's too quiet - the instruments aren't caked into each other sonically enough - you can see right through them. Also, the snare drum is too loud compared to everything else and the high-hat is too quiet and closed in places where it should be more open and rocking it to give the song more "energy". As I listen to this album I can't help but be reminded of the production sound of White Zombie's La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1. If Grin would have had that type of sound the songs would really have come to life a lot more.

Another thing that makes this album a little tiring is the generally slower tempo for the genre. Every song seems to be dragging just a tad bit. There is also a somewhat "jammy" feel to the album - 1 riff might last a couple minutes, and most of the songs are over 6 minutes. One very high point are the guitar solos by Tommy Vetterli. He does a great job of bringing some emotion into the riffs (which unfortunately sound otherwise somewhat lifeless due to production) and at times his playing reminds us of Joe Satriani.

I'm not going to say that this is a must-have metal album but if you want to expand your horizons just a tad bit and try something new, definitely check out Coroner's Grin.

FEMA Tests Emergency Alert System

Well the big test went down today for the Emergency Alert System, the first national test since the system was put in place years ago. According to the LA times, the emergency warning needs some fine tuning:

The first nationwide test of the emergency warning system failed to reach all television and radio stations in the country, but federal officials said they will make improvements.
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, called weaknesses in the system exposed by the test "unacceptable."

You know what we really need to do? Scrap the whole damn project. If we can't get a simple 30 second warning message right after years of planning and God knows how many millions of dollars - AND add to that the fact that we've never needed to use it, let's save ourselves the trouble and money and ditch it altogether. Television and Radio are quickly becoming irrelevant as more and more people stay connected to what's going on via the internet and wireless communication devices. This whole project was a nice idea but this is just another example of the government fucking something up which should be incredibly easy to pull off. And I really don't think the Soviets are going to be invading us any time soon. I'm not sure what we're preparing for anyways, wasn't the mission accomplished on the war on terror? We can all relax now, right?

Toughest job in America right now: being a police officer on the front lines of the Occupy protests

We've been trying to stay up to date on the latest happenings with the Occupy movement and follow their progress (or downfall, whichever it ends up being). We've been going through a lot of their footage lately and we've come to a conclusion: the toughest job in America right now is being a cop on the front lines of the Occupy movement. Holly shit these occupy people are fucking annoying, see the video below:

I'm not sure we'd be able to make it 1 hour dealing with these clowns, let alone one full 8 hour shift. The constant screaming, crying, fits of outrage, and shit-talking, all the while as an officer you'd have to keep your composure and act like a professional public servant. Fuck that. Unless the police chief is giving out handfuls of Xanax before each shift, I'll pass.

Occupy people: you guys have a decent message. Stop going full retard, turn it down a few notches. The police officers are just doing their job. Every protest must follow some rules to keep the peace, and the officers have gone out of their way to make these ground rules clear so things remain peaceful. But unfortunately you have a bunch of clowns who pretend not to know the rules and then act surprised when they get arrested. The cops could care less about "protecting the man" or "working for the bankers". They're there to keep the peace and make sure simple rules are followed. If you work with the police, the police will work with you. if you go full retard, well...the results are shown in the video. Stop embarrassing yourselves and get your shit together. To compare this to the protests in the 60s is a huge insult to the Vietnam war protesters. You guys aren't even close.

Emergency Alert System test scheduled for 1pm today

For the first time ever in history there will be a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) to be conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission. This alert system has been in place for the past 60 years but has never been used. The test will begin at 1pm today and only last for 30 seconds - it was initially going to be 3 minutes long but there were concerns that people would begin to panic and think there was a real emergency.

Two years in the planning, the minutelong drill is designed to expose weaknesses in a 60-year-old readiness system that has never been used — not even on 9/11.

“Coming from the military, what you do is you prepare for conflict,” Barnett said. “You test your system. You train your folks. When they told me this had never been tested I said, ‘How do you know it works?’ ”

This warning system seems to be a useful thing to have, although evidently we've made it this far just fine without needing it - but we could imagine some scenarios in which it could help. And actually we're glad that this hasn't been used yet, because it's one of those things that could get out of hand very quickly and become overused for events that are barely emergencies.

Now maybe we're being naive here, but just how hard is it for the government to send out an emergency message over television and radio airways? This has been 2 years in planning, really? Of all the great things we're able to accomplish as a nation, somehow sending out a simple 30 second message is this huge endeavor that takes years of planning. It better go right tomorrow because that would really be pathetic if we fucked this up. On the other hand, just how necessary is this type of alert system? Evidently no events in the past 60 years, including the 9-11 World Trade Center attacks, were important or urgent enough to warrant using it. And it seems to me that if anything were to be more serious and more urgent than anything we've ever experienced over the past 60 years, wouldn't the news and television media already be talking about it? Plus with the internet and mobile devices being as commonplace as they are today, people are more connected to current events and up-to-date on emergency information than ever before.

9-11 dispatch centers all across the country are preparing themselves and bracing for a flood of calls from people confused by the warnings, which could make it difficult for people with real emergencies to get through. Let's help everything goes smoothly.

Here comes the science: the researchers hypothesize that long term sexual intercourse with animals such as cows and sheep could cause "micro-traumas" in the penile tissue. Chicago Board of Trade Trolls Occupy Chicago

This week during the Occupy Chicago protests occurring right outside the Chicago Board of Trade, traders dropped McDonalds applications down to the protesters below.

You know, we almost feel a little bad for these occupy protesters, it's like making fun of the kid with down syndrome. Their eyes probably lit right up when they saw applications raining down on them like they had just won the lottery, only to find out they were for McDonalds. The sad reality though is that even a job like flipping burgers is a little too complicated for many of these people. Maybe we could create some sort of job training boot camp to get these folks ready for the real world. We'll call it "getting kicked out of your parents' basement".

The Herman Cain Fiasco: Enter Gloria Allred

Well this just about ruins it for us. Gloria Allred has just entered the Herman Cain sexual harassment circus. Allred is representing Sharon Bialek, the fourth (is it the fourth? we lost count) woman to come forward and make allegations of sexual harassment against Mr. Cain. Earlier today Allred and Bialek spoke at a press conference, detailing Bialek's history with Herman Cain and speaking of the sexual harassment that supposedly took place back when Mr. Cain headed the National Restaurant Association.

We've seen several Gloria Allred press conferences before this and there's always something very unsettling about them that makes us feel sick to our stomach. And I'm not speaking about Herman Cain at this point, for all I know the guy was fucking a different girl every night. But Gloria Allred has made a career out of shaking down men in hopes that they pay her to go away. How is that different from extortion? She's a lawyer right? But they did this whole press conference just to ask him to apologize? Really? Does it really take a lawyer and a press conference to ask someone to apologize?

Gloria Allred is the one you hire when you're a washed up whore trying to shake someone down and get publicity just like Johnnie Cochran is who you hire when you're guilty of murder. And just how does Gloria Allred always find herself in the midst of these ridiculous stories? Do these women actually seek her out or does she come to them?

We hope this whole fiasco wraps up soon because if we have to see much more of Gloria Allred we're going to gouge our eyes out with a spoon. Herman Cain just do what you gotta do: drop out of the race, pay her off... anything...just get it over with so we don't have to hear from this publicity scum-bitch any longer.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Peppermint Soap

We've just finished watching the documentary "Dr. Bronner's Magic Soapbox" streaming on Netflix. Ok we lied, we made it about halfway through. But that says more about our attention span than it does the movie, which was actually pretty interesting. Now we've seen this stuff in pharmacy chains like Walgreens and CVS before but never thought much of it and have yet to try it. But it turns out there's people who absolutely swear by this stuff - you'd think it was some sort of magic potion.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap was the creation of Emanuel Bronner, an immigrant from Germany whose parents were both killed in the Holocaust. He was reported to be somewhat insane and was even institutionalized at one point in the 1940s. He started making the soap in the first half of the 20th century which includes religious and philosophical writings on the outside label, something he referred to as the ABC's of morals and "All-One-God-Faith". We heard so much about how great this soap was in the film that we decided to see if we could find any reviews of the stuff online to find out if it was really that good. We turned to Youtube and it ended up being a great resource.

First up is blueottlisa, she has very good things to say about the peppermint soap but starts off asking why nobody warned her about the tingling. Hmmm so this soap causes a tingling sensation? We want to try it even more now! She continues to say that after washing her face with it she decided to use it in the shower: "if I thought the tingling on my eyes was bad...this thing tingles ALL. OVER. YOUR. BODY." She goes on to compare it to a boyfriend of hers who used to eat a lot of pepper and then go down on her. Ouch! Be careful ladies!

Next up we have 1SEXYTINA1, with a video entitled "PEPPERMINT SOAP... *** FOR WOMEN ONLY***"

ooooo we're on the edge of our seat already. I feel like a kid again watching a rated R movie late at night after everyone's gone to bed. Buried Alive

Do you have a fear of being buried alive? For me it's probably more of a scary thought than something I truly worry about on a regular basis. But just imagine for a moment waking up and realizing you're in a box several feet underground. There's not much room for you to move around in or adjust your position, you're pretty much stuck there until you die. Any efforts on your part to try to save yourself are really just a waste of energy. And this would probably be the hardest part about it: your body will immediately go into panic mode and you'll start pushing as hard as you can with your hands and trying to kick with your feet. But being in such a tight enclosure and lying on your back, you really don't have enough leverage to really accomplish anything. So which is the best course of action, to keep kicking and pushing for hours until you die? Or to attempt to control your body, to tell yourself to relax, accept your fate, close your eyes and realize there's nothing you can do?

It seems to me that the best option is to try to calm yourself down and lay there peacefully, because the more you try to push yourself out of that position the more frustrated and panicked you're going to become. But it could be that it's simply impossible for most people to just lay there and take it calmly, perhaps our instincts would take over and not listen to our mind telling the body to relax. It would be a struggle not so much to escape, but a struggle to calm the mind and body.

It might seem silly today to think about the prospect of being buried alive but there was a time where it was a real possibility.

It also mentions that people who could afford it arranged to be buried in a "safety" coffin, which had bells and other means to alert those on the outside they were still alive, along with pipes delivering oxygen. It's a good idea, however wouldn't it just be easier to wait a couple days before burying the body?

Snopes.com has some very sad stories involving premature burial, many of them during epidemics where people were dying left and right from various illnesses.

Some instances were especially heartbreaking. In the 1850s, a young girl visiting Edisto Island, South Carolina, died of diphtheria. She was quickly interred in a local family's mausoleum because it was feared the disease might otherwise spread. When one of the family's sons died in the Civil War, the tomb was opened to admit him. A tiny skeleton was found on the floor just behind the door.

The latest from Occupy Wall Street: child-baiting and sexual assault

Things seem to be headed towards a downward spiral for the Occupy protesters. They face a similar image problem the Tea-Partiers had: the struggle to prove to the world that they're not just a bunch of crazy lunatics, "we're just normal folks like you guys, see?". Unfortunately with such a large idiot/normal person ratio it's getting harder and harder to make that case.

First we have video of a woman using her child as a "shield" during an Occupy Washington DC event. This is really pathetic. There's a scuffle going on and somehow this toddler just so happens to get in the middle of it all. How convenient. And sure enough the lady is quick to proclaim how her baby was so terrible abused. I've seen better performances from soccer players.

Next we have a report on the tensions erupting between the homeless people in New York City and the protesters who are camping out in the homeless people's domain. Included are a few accounts of sexual assault.

Looks like this movement is off to a great start.

Mom puts on a little show for the family but forgets to wipe

Wow this uhm....well we're kind of speechless over here. This is one of the most embarrassing and cringe-worthy yet absolutely hysterical videos we've ever seen. So we have mom, probably in her mid to late 30s, getting down and singing along to tunes on her i-pod "I believe in miracles...you sexy thing". It appears her kids are in front of her, one of them filming. Now at first it seems innocent enough, maybe she's just in a good mood and is doing a little dancing and exercising. But for some reason she decides to get a little naughty and starts shaking her ass. We can only guess she's trying to show her kids she's still got it? Which is kind of pathetic, especially knowing what happens next. Evidently just shaking her ass wasn't enough though, she then proceeds to pull her pants down while shaking her behind, displaying a massive shit stain.

If you're going to be the type of person that randomly strips down to their underwear, make sure you're also the type of of person that wipes their ass real well.

Herman Cain slipping

For someone who was shooting up to the top of the polls in such a short period of time, Herman Cain sure seems to be making a lot of bad moves lately. Perhaps he truly does belong in second tier status. Cain and his campaign completely mismanaged his response to the sexual harassment allegations and he seems to be digging himself into a bigger hole as each day goes by. Earlier this week Herman Cain appeared on Fox News with Greta Van Susteren where they spoke of the allegations and she asked him if he had a roaming eye:

VAN SUSTEREN: Got a roaming eye at all?

CAIN: A roaming eye?

VAN SUSTEREN: Yes.

CAIN: I enjoy flowers, like everybody else.

VAN SUSTEREN: You know what I mean.

(LAUGHTER)

CAIN: No. No, not at all.

VAN SUSTEREN: Not at all.

CAIN: Well, I wouldn't say not at all. Depends upon what you mean and (INAUDIBLE) to what you mean.

I'm sorry but that was just terrible. He enjoys flowers just like everyone else? I don't even know what the hell that's supposed to mean. It certainly doesn't come off well in this context, now's not the time to be beating around the bush or cracking jokes. And the last part just adds an extra dose of WTF. "No, Not at all. Wait, I wouldn't say not at all". Whaaaaa?? The correct answer Mr. Cain is an unequivocal "NO". Why is he trying to tap dance around what should be an obvious and direct response? She's not asking you about some complicated middle east strategy here, people are trying to find out if you did in fact sexually harass women and since that may not be possible they're trying to test your character and you sir are failing miserably.

Video has been released of Arkansas County Court-at-Law Judge William Adams beating his teenage daughter back in 2004. Her big crime? Downloading some games and music off the internet. Video below, viewer discretion is advised.

He's clearly getting off on it, who would really get that mad over downloading music? He's using that as an excuse to be the monster that he is. CBS news is reporting that he's agreeing to take a paid leave since the release of this video. Ohh nice, a paid vacation.

By the way, it turns out that the daughter recorded this and uploaded it herself. We just want to say that this girl is fucking awesome and it's a shame that her dad is such a piece of shit. She did the right thing by releasing this and exposing him for the creep that he is. He probably won't face any criminal consequences but hopefully the public shaming will be enough to provide at least a little bit of justice for how he treated her.

Update: The Huffington Post reports that Judge William Adams will not be facing charges due to the amount of time that has passed since the incident. The beating too place in 2004 and the statute of limitations has expired. It's unfortunate but we figured this would be the case. We're hoping that the amount of public shaming will be more than enough to at least offer some type of justice.

The Huffington Post is also reporting that Judge Wiliam Adams has issued a 3 page statement attacking his daughter and basically putting all the blame on her:

William Adams, 51, issued a three-page statement Thursday saying his daughter posted the clip to get back at him for telling her he would be reducing the amount of financial support he gives her and taking away her Mercedes. The statement did not include an apology for the beating.

You know what? We could really give a fuck. Even if she was shaking him down for 10 million dollars we still couldn't care less. And if that were the case we would applaud her for it because nothing can ever be done to reverse the pain he put his daughter through during her childhood. Of course, he's probably bullshitting but even if he isn't that doesn't really change anything at all. It speaks nothing of the issue at hand, which is child abuse. You are a creep and a monster and if you have any criticisms about what she does now, just look at who raised her you fucking dick.

This guy is sick. This isn't just punishing and it's not even just a beating. Judge William Adams gets off on dominating teenage girls and we wouldn't be surprised if he's a pedophile. Why was he so obsessed with whooping her behind? The rest of her body wouldn't cut it, he kept demanding that she bend over for him. Also note how he turned off the lights before he began. Btw you can't tell me anyone would really get that mad over downloading a few songs. I bet he was just looking for a chance every day to become outraged so he could exert his power while everyone in his family was scared shitless.

By the way, the daughter Hillary Adams appeared on the Today Show with Matt Lauer and she is just a wonderful person. It really takes a lot of guts to come out with the video and go on television like that and she seems like a really strong woman.

AAMA Atheists Against Militant Atheism

We've decided today that we're going to create an organization called Atheists Against Militant Atheism (AAMA). We're not sure what it is with a lot of atheists but many of them are uhm...how do you say it..douchebags? Calling them militant is probably giving them too much credit but I guess it'll have to work for now.

Now in case you're unaware, we're atheists here at People Liking People. But we're friendly atheists. We actually think that religion can be a good thing, and we do see that a lot of our friends and family members find value in it. So who are we to try to stop them from doing it? Who are we to mock them?

First there's the clowns that want to remove "In God We Trust" from our currency. They point to the separation of church and state but you know what? There's a million bigger issues to worry about. How does it effect me to have "In God We Trust" on my dollars? It's the same with "Under God" in the pledge or when people get their panties all in a bunch about the 10 commandments being displayed on government property. Get over it and get a life.

Now back in the day I used to think these were just fringe morons and didn't really represent the majority of atheists. But now we have Youtube and there's this whole community of douchebag atheists on there that have a 24/7 circle jerk about how stupid Christians are. It's almost like they're trying to convince themselves that they're truly atheist. But what I really find interesting is their hatred for religion. It goes beyond just not believing. If you notice, they hardly ever want to talk about real science or ideas about the world. They'd rather focus all their time on coming up with good arguments against Christianity and how the bible contradicts itself 1,000 times. I could give a flying fuck about the bible, what are you guys wasting your time for?

I am going to say something here that may offend religious people but it needs to be said. A lot of religious people are actually unstable and the only thing holding them together is this belief in God and from that belief comes a sense of value and purpose to their lives. Would you really want to be around on the day they come out and say "Breaking news: after looking over new evidence, religious leaders around the world all concede that there is no God after all, and no afterlife, the whole thing was just a big fairy tale"? Could you imagine the shitstorm that would surely ensue?

Let people have their fairytale beliefs. If that's what keeps them "sane" I say have at it, as long as they're not hurting anyone else. Yes we know, people do bad things in the name of religion. But those people are "bad" to begin with, religion is their justification. I think a lot of you atheists out there became atheists NOT because you were intellectually curious and thought a lot about life and came up with your own ideas. But you wanted to be rebellious and you have a permanent stick up your ass. Let it go, whatever your pent up frustration is about. Focus on something positive, life is too short.

2011 Album of the year: Cavalera Conspiracy - Blunt Force Trauma

I have to say, it's been a pretty shitty last decade in music and we're well into a new decade that doesn't seem any more promising. The amount of shitty albums you have to go through to find a gem takes so much effort that most give up in the process and just stick to the old stuff. 2011 did bring us one great album and it comes from Sepultura brothers Max & Igor Cavalera's new band "Cavalera Conspiracy". This is actually their second offering since the reunion, the first being "Inflikted", released in 2008.

Most metal bands from the 80s that are still releasing material have watered themselves down and are a parody of what they used to be. They're middle aged, raising kids, and just aren't as pissed off at the world as they used to be. But Cavalera Conspiracy's Blunt Force Tauma sounds very fresh, energetic and angry. The whole album is solid from start to finish and includes a cool cover of Black Sabbath's "Electric Funeral". Cavalera Conspiracy definitely delivers the goods here: there's no stupid parts that make you cringe, there's no filler and it just kicks your ass all the way through.

Max Cavalera has never been the most technical rhythm guitarist, and that doesn't really change much here. Usually in other bands I favor more sophisticated guitar work but Max just makes it work because his riffs are solid and he knows how to put together a good song. Plus he's got his Soulfly bandmate Marc Rizzo on lead guitar and he can really tear it up. Now during my first couple listens of the album I was kind of disappointed with some of the leads. They had the technicality to them, nice sweep picking shred stuff going on, but it didn't really seem to go anywhere. It was a bit too mindless for what I was hoping he'd play. But after several listens it's grown on me and it does go with the music pretty well. You can tell some solos are a lot more thought-out than others. Sometimes you just want to rock out for a moment, not every solo has to be a masterpiece.

High Tech Lynching?

High tech lynching: it's a phrase we've been hearing a lot lately in reference to the media's treatment of Herman Cain and a possible scandal involving sexual harassment allegations. It all started Sunday night with Politico reporting that 2 women had accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment back in the 1990s when Mr. Cain was head of the National Restaurant Association. This is the first time Herman Cain has faced such intense media scrutiny since he started leading the polls and many on the right are calling this a smear effort by the "liberal leftwing media".

Now call it what you want to, but if you're running for President of the United States and you have a sexual harassment claim in your past, especially a situation where multiple accusers were actually paid off, are you really going to be surprised if that comes out at some point during the campaign? Do you really think any media organization worth their salt is going to ignore it if they run across that story? Of course that is going to come out. There's no way it couldn't. It's too juicy, it's too scandalous, and it's the perfect counter-story to the candidate that seemed perfect.

Right now we don't have all the details of the allegations, or if there's any merit to them at all. We're giving Herman Cain the benefit of the doubt that he didn't sexually harass these women. But the Cain camp has made a lot of terrible mistakes in dealing with this campaign crisis. Cain started out as a second-tier candidate, seemingly having not a chance of hell at winning. Right now he's leading the polls but it looks like his campaign is still staffed by second rate people and is still being run as a second rate campaign.

They didn't have a plan to deal with this, demonstrated by the fact that their response to it changed many times within the same day. First he refused to comment on it at all, evidently expecting the whole thing to just blow over. He was forced to address it when pressure started mounting but it was handled very poorly.

In an appearance on Fox News — his first of the day — Cain said that he had been “falsely accused” of sexual harassment and was unaware of financial settlements with any accusers.

But by the end of the day, Cain had reversed himself on many of the essential facts of the case, telling both PBS’s Judy Woodruff and Fox’s Greta Van Susteren that there had been cash payouts to a woman who accused him “falsely” of harassment.
..
Cain’s confirmation of a settlement clashed with his earlier comments denying any awareness of a financial agreement with one or more accusers.

Now we're seeing conservatives quickly coming to Cain's defense - and he certainly could use support from his base in this difficult time in his campaign. The narrative from the right is that Cain is being targeted by the left because they hate seeing a black man succeed; they can't stand black Republicans and will do everything they can to stop them "just like they did with Clarence Thomas". To some extent that could very well be true (we did see some of this earlier by MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell). Most blacks in America vote Democratic and the black Republicans could be seen as somewhat of an outcast or someone confused and not in touch with the rest of the group. But in this instance what we're seeing is pretty par for the course for political coverage. When you run for president you get highly scrutinized by the media. And if you have something like a sexual harassment allegation and payoff in your past you better believe that's going to come out and be reported. And you are going to be questioned about it, and no, it's not going to just go away in one day.

We get the support of Cain and those that are defending him, but it's getting a little ridiculous when people start calling this a high tech lynching. It's not any better than when people use Hitler comparisons. We've heard the phrase being tossed around by several prominent right wingers from Rush Limbaugh to Michael Savage to Herman Cain's Super PAC.

There has been one refreshing voice of reason in all this and it comes from former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. From cbsnews.com:

"I actually am someone who-- doesn't believe in playing the race card on either side. I've seen it played, by the way, on the other side quite a lot too. And it's not good for the country," Rice told CBS' Norah O'Donnell in an interview that aired on CBS' "The Early Show" on Wednesday.

It's make it or break it time and whining around about the other side high tech lynching you or about some leftist conspiracy just isn't going to cut it.

Update: Now the Herman Cain camp is saying that Rick Perry is behind the surfacing of the sexual harassment allegations. So much for the liberal high tech lynching idea..

Beginner Guitar: the only 3 scale positions you'll ever need to know

So you've recently picked up playing the guitar and are ready to take it to the next level and begin soloing like Randy Rhoads. We've been there and we know how much of a headache it can be to figure out what scales you need to know, what's important and what's not. You'll find weird names for them and each source you look to for info has a different take on it. It's actually very simple and we hope to make it very easy for you. My philosophy? Forget all the names and mumbo jumbo, all you need to know is where to put your fingers on the fretboard.

Position 1: the primary position of the minor scale.

Notice how I didn't label the notes? That's because it's all relative and doesn't really matter. No matter what key you're in, you're going to use this same position and move it up or down to the right key. The darkened circle is the root note, that's the starting point so to speak. But you can play any of these notes in any order over the root key and it'll sound great. This is the position that blues players play in most often, though they usually omit a couple notes from the minor scale and keep it to 5 or 6 notes. If you were playing in the scale of E minor, the darkened dot would be on the 12th fret.

Position 2: an alternate position.

The shape of this position is similar to the first one. It starts on the A string as opposed to the E string. There are of course notes within the scale on the E string but you'll find those later. The darkened dot is the root note or starting point, but you can play these notes in any order. If you're playing in the scale of E minor, then the darkened dot is going to be on the 7th fret.

Position 3 of the minor scale: the fun one, when you're ready to really rock out.

There's often a part during the guitar solo, usually in the middle or towards the end where you really want to kick some ass and show them you mean it. It starts off in the lower notes but quickly builds up and goes up the scale and eventually climaxes with some wild bend. This is a position you're going to want to get used to and have fun with using. If you were in the key of E minor for example, the darkened dot is E and would be the root note, and is on the 7th fret. So find that part on the fretboard and work your way backwards if you're wanting to do a run up. You'll see that in this scenario the scale starts on the 3rd fret. It goes 3 5 7, 3 5 7, 4 5 7, 4 5 7, 5 7 8, 5 7 8. Start at the bottom with your pointer finger, middle finger and pinky for the 3 5 7 and work your way up the strings. Pick all the notes, or hammer-on and pull-off, do a combination the 2, it's all up to you.

Practice these scales over and over, start at the bottom and work your way up, then go back down the scale. Once you get these down, over time you will build an understanding of where all the scale notes are on the fretboard and how they relate to each other. You may even discover some new positions of your own.

And all those weird names for the different scales? For the most part they're the same scale, the difference only has to do with what key you're in. Playing the E minor scale over E minor, you know what that sounds like. How about playing the E minor scale over A minor? Give it a try. E minor scale over C minor? Give that a try. Give all possibilities a try and you'll find what sounds good to your ears and what doesn't. Always remember: there are no rules in music. Anyone who tells you there's a right or wrong way has missed the point.

One last thing, here are all 3 positions laid out on the fretboard for the E minor scale so you can see how it all works out and where they are in relation to each other. (Click on the image if it's not displaying properly)

The blue dots are the 3rd position I spoke of, the red dots are in position 2 and the yellow dots are in position 1, the main position. As you can see there is some overlap with these positions and you can go from one position into the other very quickly. There scale notes are in more places than I selected here, but I wanted to just focus on these areas. From this image you should be able to guess where the scale notes are on the rest of the fretboard that I didn't cover. As you know, the notes repeat themselves every 12 frets ( a different octave of course).

New govt report on painkillers: 15,000 deaths in 2008

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta just issued a report on what it calls an "epidemic", the abuse of opiate narcotic pain medications and the overdoses that contributed to 15,000 deaths in 2008.

Prescription painkillers such as OxyContin, Vicodin and methadone led to the deaths of almost 15,000 people in 2008, including actor Heath Ledger. That's more than three times the 4,000 deaths from narcotics in 1999.

Such painkillers "are meant to help people who have severe pain," said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, which issued the report. "They are, however, highly addictive."

Wow, including Heath Ledger? I mean 15,000 deaths that's terrible but when they mention Heath Ledger that really lets you know the gravity of the situation here. But seriously, it seems every couple months or so we're hearing about how terrible these pain meds are and how they need to be more tightly controlled. New reports are coming out all the time about the abuse potential and how terrible they are.

I propose that nothing be done about it at all. There's millions of people who genuinely do need these pain medications to cope with their severe pain. Any further tightening of access to these medications only harm those who need them the most. About those overdoses? Each and every one of those people knew the addictive nature of the drugs and made a decision to take a lot more than necessary. Nobody abuses drugs on accident. How many people do you think overdosed on these meds who were taking it the way it was prescribed? None of them. I don't mean to be harsh but once someone decides to take something in excess to get high to the point where it's a lethal dose, the consequences fall on them, not society. And why treat legitimately suffering patients like criminals? Because that's really what more regulation and tightening will do.

We've always had drug abuse and we've always had drug overdoses. And for comparison sake, the CDC reports that from 2001-2005 there were 79,000 deaths a year due to alcohol abuse. Where's all the talk about the alcohol abuse epidemic like we hear with pain medications? After all, the death toll is over 5 times that of pain meds.

People are going to choose the types of lives they want to live. Some people have a strong desire to succeed, others have given up and want to get high. It's not our role to tell people how to live their lives. At the end of the day we're all going to the same place anyway. I argue that anyone who overdoses and dies from taking too many pain pills was likely bound to kill themselves in one way or another. If it wasn't oxycodone it would have been heroin or alcohol. You're never going to stop drug abuse; any efforts to do so only wastes taxpayer money and inconveniences those who really do need the medication for health reasons.

FBI leaks documents, pictures, and videos of Russian spies

Well this is kinda cool. The FBI has just released documents, photos, and video footage of the failed Russian spies that were in the U.S. for years trying to blend in and rub shoulders with influential/powerful people. These people led fairly normal lives while they were here - they raised families, worked 9-5 jobs and tended to their gardens. You know, I wonder if some of them went into the gig with the mission of spying, but once they got here and away from Russia they said fuck it let's make a life for ourselves here and we'll pretend to spy every once in a while so our handlers back home think we're actually doing something spy-like. I mean let's face it, living in Russia probably sucks donkey balls. You can't help but wonder if the spies might have wished they were the real life citizens they were pretending to portray.

This has gotta be pretty embarrassing for the Russians. They thought they were being so sneaky and we were on to them the whole time, quietly monitoring and filming their every move. We should have fed them some ridiculous misinformation to troll the hell out of them.

You have to wonder why the FBI is releasing these pictures and videos now. I'm glad they are, but is this some kind of subtle power move in the game of chess with Russia? To rub it in a little how badly they fucked up?

Anyways...Russia needs to know their role. They seem to think they're like another United States in the world, the second super power. Reality check: you guys are just another third world country and are not relevant at all. Try focusing on building greatness within instead of sending out spies to see what everyone else is doing and you might actually get somewhere.

Album Review: Alanis by Alanis Morissette 1991

Alanis Morissette...bad ass rocker grunge chick with a chip on her shoulder right? Well things weren't always that way, she actually started out as a Paula Abdul wanna-be Britney Spears type pop singer. Fortunately for her, back then her music and image was mostly contained in Canada. When she made the transition to rocker and entered the US/World market, people took her new image and style at face value, not knowing what a poser she really was. Not that we're knocking her style change, but it's fun to get a glimpse of the before and after in the midst of someone trying to find an identity that works.

This is Alanis's debut. You can tell by her voice it's still her but it's almost 180 degrees from what she eventually settled on.

Most of the tracks sound like knockoffs of other songs that were hits just a couple years earlier. Probably the best song on the album is "Too Hot" and if you listen carefully you'll notice that most of the drum sounds and the guitar samples are the same ones used in Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" which came out 3 years earlier in 1988.

As a pop album of the early 90s we give it 3/5 stars. It's pretty much what you would expect from the genre. Nothing too amazing here. It's almost like whoever produced the music is using hand-me-down samples and keyboards that the major pop artists like Paula Abdul and Madonna were using a few years earlier. Who knows, maybe they sold the songs or sounds to them - which probably goes on a lot more than people realize. What makes it a really fun listen though is just knowing it's Alanis Morissette.

Wow, who knew Alanis had such a nice thick body back in the day?

A biker cop is trying to get through the area and you got these Occupy shmucks standing in front of him trying to block his path. The cop tries to get through and it appears that one of the morons gets his foot ran over. He then shoves the bike to show how big of a tough guy he is before taking off like a little pussy when the cop comes after him. The best part is all the fake outrage that follows from the mass of retards "OMG OMG WHAT ARE U GUYS DOING! POLICE BRUTALITY RODNEY KING OMG" No really, some douche on a bullhorn actually shouts "You guys are fucking NAZIS!". Korn goes dubstep for their latest album "The Path of Totality"

We here at People Liking People were never huge fans of Korn, however their first 2 albums are worth checking out. They helped created the dreaded genre of Nu-Metal that we mostly despise but they were able to pull it off in a way that didn't suck because they had fresh ideas and a unique sound. Now it's years later in their career - at the stage where they'd usually be pretty much over the hill and yesterday's news. But we just checked out a track from the upcoming album and it ain't too bad, check it out:

I think this is going to be very successful actually. There is an area between metal and dubstep that has yet to be discovered and this seems to be a step in the right direction for them. Korn is a type of band that does need to change over time to stay current and I think they chose the right direction here.

We've had these Occupy Wallstreet protests going on for quite some time now and it's catching on around the country where we're having everything from Occupy St. Louis to Occupy Dallas to Occupy Miami. It took them a bit of time to figure out exactly why they were protesting but it appears they've agreed on a list of grievances ranging from banks having too much power and greedy capitalism increasing the divide between the haves and the have-nots.

We have our first "casualty" in the fight against the man, and it's Iraqi war veteran Scott Olsen.

Marines have been flocking to the social networking/aggregator site Reddit to voice their anger at the life-threatening injury inflicted on 24-year-old Iraqi war veteran Scott Olsen by Oakland police during the recent Occupy protests. Video showed Olsen go down after taking a tear gas canister to the head. As fellow protesters tried to assist him, police lobbed a flash grenade into their midst–right next to Olsen’s already fractured skull.

So now everyone is in an uproar about this, and it's working to give the protesters another excuse to be out there protesting. But in a way it distracts from the initial issue, it's a cause within a cause now. And this is very common for a protest of this type, where the protesters aren't so quick to obey police and they're willing to be arrested to take one for the team and for the cause. Things escalate bit by bit day by day, and before you know it someone's injured or arrested and that becomes the new cause "OMG LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO BILLY THOSE EVIL MONSTERS...OK YOU'VE REALLY FUCKED UP THIS TIME".

The thing that makes this a seemingly perfect situation for the protesters is the fact that he's an Iraqi war veteran. If it was just some regular shmuck, they know that story wouldn't really go anywhere. People would shrug and say "eh what do you expect". But an Iraqi war veteran? Apparently we're all supposed to go "OMG WTF SHIT JUST GOT SRIOUS" and get out our pitchforks.

But we're having trouble understanding how the fact that he is an Iraqi war veteran is relevant at all. Sure, it makes for a good headline and it makes for good fodder to fuel the outrage of the cause. But why would anything any of us have done in our past excuse us from anything that happens to us in the future? The guy was clearly in an area with a group of people where police had told them not to be. They refused to leave, so the police escalated the situation and started throwing tear gas. If you stick around at that point, I'm sorry but that's kind of on you now. It's like jumping in a cage with a lion and then getting outraged when he takes a bite out of you. You knew going in what you were getting yourself into. Sure, it's unfortunate that he got injured but again, what does his past have to do with any of this? Did the police single him out and say "ok let's throw the canister right at the head of that veteran over there"?

The only reason it's relevant is because it elicits emotion. That's it. It has nothing to do with the protests, it has nothing to do with the protesters sticking around in an area after they're told to leave. And it has nothing to do with the reasons they're protesting. It's only to stir up outrage, in an attempt to wake up those who could care less about the whole thing and recharge the "troops on the ground".

We can tell this guy is serious because he underlined "brother".

Are we going to have to do this with everyone that's injured in a protest now? If someone who gets hurt happens to be a floor sweeper, are janitors going to come out in solidarity? Actually that would be pretty awesome.

Ohio Gym Teacher Jailed for Sex With Students

Can anybody make sense of this? I think they had a point somewhere in there but I'm not sure what it has to do with Herman Cain. I think what makes it so bad is how poorly produced and acted it is. They're definitely going to need to do better than this if they're going to go against Obama in the general election. This is second rate material. Healthcare Solution: Everyone Pays Cash

Everyone's always talking about the health care crisis, it's one of the biggest "hot button" issues these days. Some of us here at People Liking People have had major health issues and we know first hand how incompetent the health care system can be. Costs are skyrocketing and health problems are going undiagnosed for years. So when people start complaining about health care, we're the first to agree and say that some changes do need to be made. Unfortunately the solutions most people are proposing and putting into action are dead wrong and are the complete opposite of what needs to happen to improve health care. Everyone is demanding that the government do something about the crisis, and the government is more than happy to oblige because usually their solutions end up giving them more power.

The real solution is for everyone to pay out of pocket 100% for their health care. Now I know the thought of this scares a lot of people. The reason it's so scary is because health care costs are through the roof and most people can't afford health care at current rates, ourselves included (We're not rich here at People Liking People). However, you need to understand that the reason health care costs so much is because of the third party payment system.

The third party payment system effects many factors:

1) The health care provider's real customer is no longer you, it's whoever is actually footing the bill. Their real customers are the insurance companies and the government.

2) People stop paying attention to the real cost. Most people don't know how much their doctors actually charge for visits, they don't know how much a CT scan is, and they don't know much their medication really costs. All they know is that with their insurance card, they pay their $25 co-pay and they're on their way. Nobody prices around looking for the best deal on a health product or service. Our insurance card takes care of that and we don't need to think about it.

3) As a result of people not paying for their health services, people aren't really that demanding with the quality they receive. We are not as demanding as we should be with doctors. We put up with their in-and-out 5 minute visits and we put up with them not always being the most thorough. We don't really make a big deal about it though it didn't cost us that much, oh well it was just $25.

4) Whoever foots the bill has the control. We have to go through their approval process to see whether or not we can receive a certain procedure.

People Liking People's Golden Rule: The more someone else is paying for a product or service you're receiving, the less of a say so you have in it. Also - you cannot complain about something you are receiving for free. Wheres your bargaining power? You have none. You're a liability now.

Imagine if tomorrow someone flipped a switch and all the sudden there was no health insurance. No third party payment systems. All cash out of pocket for doctors visits and procedures. What do you think would happen?

The first thing that would happen is patients would be calling their doctors offices asking what they're charging for a visit. There would be a lot of "WTF? you gotta be kidding me!" moments. For the first time people would be finding out just how much health providers have been gouging us. There would also be a lot of "Uhmm that's the best price you do? I'll have to call you back let me check around". Within a week prices would be driven down significantly by the market. If the doctors kept prices at the same high levels, appointments per day would drastically go down. Doctors would be forced to lower their prices to get demand back to what it was. All of the sudden little by little it would turn into a real competitive market, with the patient calling the shots and having the bargaining power. Doctors would be competing with each other, trying to offer the best quality at the lowest cost, and hospitals would be doing the same with the cost for procedures and tests.

And now that everyone is paying with cash, you better believe people are going to be a lot more demanding with the quality they're receiving. That's money coming right out of their pocket, they're not going to leave that office until the problem is resolved. And doctors and hospitals will work extra hard to keep customer loyalty.

If you were to have a bad experience at a restaurant and you speak to the manager and threaten to take your business elsewhere, there's a good chance they will be very apologetic and maybe even give you a meal for free. Try threatening to take your business elsewhere in a doctors office and see how quickly you get laughed out of there. They do not try hard for our business, they do not care. You're not the one paying them. When you pay for what you receive, that gives you complete control and bargaining power. It gives us the right to be demanding and creates a competitive dynamic among providers. This is how you lower costs and increase quality. Having someone else pay for it puts us completely at the whim of the payer and provider.

Wow, this is pretty bad. So yesterday President Obama had a meeting with congressional leaders and continued the ongoing debate of what to do about the debt ceiling. Evidently talks broke down and things became heated when House Majority Leader Eric Cantor challenged Obama on spending cuts. What happened next has to be one of the dumbest lines ever uttered in negotiation. In response to Cantor's challenge, Obama responded "Don't Call My Bluff".

Don't call my bluff, really? So you're telling the other side that you're bluffing or attempting to deceive them (read: LIE)? Just how strong is your position where you outright tell the other side to not call you out on your bullshit?

Fox News inadvertently admits it's a partisan channel in its criticism of Media Matters

Today on Fox News, anchor Steve Doocy started off a segment questioning whether it was legal for Media Matters to file as a 501(3)(c). Steve Doocy and his guest proclaim that it isn't, and their reasoning is that Media Matters goes after Fox News more than any other network. So why is that a problem? Well, 501(3)(c)s aren't allowed to engage in partisan activities favoring one side or another. In calling Media Matters' Fox attack a parisan effort though, they're essentially admitting that they themselves are partisan - not the "fair and balanced" network they often claim to be. Case against woman videotaping traffic-stop in front of her house dismissed

On May 12 in Rochester, NY police made a traffic stop that happened to be right in front of Emily Good's home. Emily decided to videotape what was going on while standing in her front yard. Even though Emily Good was well within her rights to stand wherever she damn well please on her own property, Officer Mario Masic demanded that she go back inside. Watch the video:

She was then arrested for not complying. The good news: Today in court the judge dismissed the charges against her. The bad news: officer Mario Masic still has a job. We're pro-police here at People Liking People but we also realize that dickweeds like Mario Masic tarnish the reputation of the rest of the force. It's not rocket science to know that people are allowed to stand wherever they want on their own property. When idiots like Mario Masic can't understand simple concepts like this it makes us wonder how they qualify to be a janitor, let alone police officer.

Let's get to the truth here: Mario Masic was doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing and didn't like the fact that it was being caught on camera. He then made up some bull about not feeling safe as a justification to make Emily Good go away and stop recording what he was doing. Fortunately Emily Good stood up for her rights and she is indeed a hero. The judge agrees that she didn't do anything wrong and anyone with half a brain knows she didn't do anything wrong. Let's work hard as a community to get rid of scum like Mario Masic that ruin everything for the rest of us. People like Mario Masic unnecessarily increase tension between police and community while invading the rights of others.

Tribe meets white man for the first time: Bullshit

There's a video making the rounds lately showing what is claimed to be a tribe on Papua New Guinea meeting a white person for the very first time. It is so unbelievably staged and we're stunned by the number of people who actually believe it's genuine. As was the case with the blogger that was supposedly a lesbian in Syria, people seem to be so emotionally moved that they don't realize how obviously fake it is. They want to believe because it touches that special feel-good spot in their heart. Watch the video for yourself.

What exactly are we lacking where a video like this fills some type of void? First of all, whether this video is real or fake, it's exploitative. It's looking at humans as if they're animals in the zoo. And that's supposed to pull at your heart strings? This idiocy mixed with the gullibility of believing this stupid video really makes us weep for humanity.

This charming video is in fact a fake, which has nothing to do with Papua New Guinea. The white man you see in the video is a Belgian moviemaker, Jean-Pierre Dutilleux. The "Papua New Guinea natives" were in fact members of the Toulambi tribe of indigenous Amazonian "Indians" (what a silly word for people in South America). This fake "first encounter" between the natives and a white-skinned visitor was filmed around 1999.

Meds IV: The Latest

We've been following the developments concerning 9 patients that died in Alabama as a result of bacteria tainted Total Parenteral Nutrition IVs made by Meds IV a.k.a. Advanced Specialty Pharmacy, run by Tim Rogers and Edward Anthony Cingoranelli. Our concern is making sure the people responsible for these deaths are held accountable. Mistakes do happen but we suspect this may be a result of negligence, mismanagement or failure to follow proper procedure.

Investigators piecing together tainted IV puzzle after deaths in Alabama hospitals

Al.com reports that samples gathered from Meds IV have tested positive for Serratio marcescens, the bacteria suspected in the deaths. One interesting find is that while both adults and babies received the TPN IV, only the adults became ill or died.

Williamson said they're looking at other clues, too. For example, seven newborns received the supplements at those hospitals in March, along with 41 adults. While 17 of those 41 adults got sick, none of the babies did. Now investigators are looking at what's different about the compounding process for babies vs. adults -- he wouldn't provide the details -- figuring the answer may lie there.

Do babies and adults receive the exact same TPN IV? Or are they packaged or made differently? If it's the same exact product for both then the difference could just mean that babies' immune systems are able to fight off the bacteria better than adults.

Two lawsuits have been filed so far, and probably many more to follow.

Al.com mentions that the TPN mixture is made to order each day per patient, and because it's sensitive to light and heat it must be discarded if not used within 24 hours. In the past, most TPN solutions were produced in the hospitals but over time they began outsourcing it due to costs and efficiency. Question: was Meds IV stocking an inventory and not always throwing out expired supply after 24 hours?

The Alabama hospitals that are known to have received tainted Meds IV TPN include Baptist Princeton, Baptist Shelby, Baptist Prattville, Medical West, Cooper Green Mercy and Select Specialty Hospital in Birmingham.
